Not the greatest card Happy Valley tonight with only a few C3 races scattered amongst some pretty average races here. Struggled to find any picks with much confidence but have provided top selections for each race with no units staked on most races simply due to lack of confidence.
Happy Valley Racing Tips: Wednesday October 11th
Race 1: Tseung Kwan O Hcp (C5) – 1000m (21:10 AEST)
(4) Theta Hedge returns here off 2 nice trials and went out well last season with multiple placings. He gets the dream run from barrier 4 and although 1000m might be a touch short for him, expect him to perform well fresh.
(5) Tronic Mighty won comfortably last time and although he carries 3kg more here there’s no reason he shouldn’t perform just as well. Look for him late.
(2) Diamond Soars goes in here as a horse for minors. Doesn’t look as though he’ll threaten for the win here having underperformed in recent races.
(4) Theta Hedge e/w

Race 2: Yau Tong Hcp (C5) – 1650m (21:40 AEST)
(6) Medic Elite won nicely as favourite last start and is double the price here to go back-to-back. This looks harder as he has a wide barrier to contend with but his opposition aren’t flying so it looks a winnable race.
Race 3: Hang Hau Hcp (C3) – 1650m (22:10 AEST)
(8) Ivy League is a good e/w price here. He closed strongly 1st up and can settle on speed from gate 5. Open race so minimal confidence but leaning this way.
Race 4: Po Lam Hcp (C4) – 1200m (22:45 AEST)
(5) Golden Luck is the clear top selection here but is too short to put anything on for mine. Zac Purton from gate 2 is enough but the horse trialled well and was just too underdone 1st up finishing a solid 4th.
Race 5: Lei Yue Mun Hcp (C4) - 1000m (23:15 AEST)
(8) Kowloon East Star is capable of winning again here from the front. His early pace is no match for anything in this field on his best day and over 1000m that could ensure this horse establishes an early winning lead.
Race 6: Po Lam Hcp (C4) – 1200m (23:45 AEST)
(4) Awesome Treasure is well placed to win here. He crossed to lead in a race with good pressure last time and fought bravely to be nosed out by Lucky Gor on the line. Zac Purton will be hoping to get this horse across the line this time with added fitness.
(7) Exuberant will be rocketing home if the pace is on here. He narrowly missed last time from well-back and is a talented horse who is yet to show his best on the race track.
(8) Colonel is always a chance in races he can find the lead in. Whether he leads or not here will probably determine if this horse is able to make the finish and fill the minors.

Race 7: Tiu Keng Leng Hcp (C4)
(10) Dragon Star will lead here and has fought bravely to lose narrowly in 2 starts so far. Not a lot of confidence but that led me to default on the leader from an inside draw.
Race 8: Cha Kwo Ling Hcp (C3) – 1200m (00:50 AEST)
(7) Sugar Sugar snuck up the rail 1st up to finish a narrow 2nd. Drawn wide here again but can perform similarly under Hugh Bowman here.
