EPL 2025-26: Matchday 14 Preview & Betting Tips
Fulham vs Manchester City
Craven Cottage, Wednesday 3rd December, 6:30am AEDT
Manchester City will be looking to close the gap on league leaders Arsenal, when they travel to London to take on Fulham. City moved back into second place on the table after a 3-2 win over Leeds, thanks to Phil Foden’s winner in stoppage time. It was just reward for a dominant performance, with City winning the shot count 17-5 and recording 63% possession. It’s been a tough start to the season for Fulham who are currently 15th on the table, but they have won two games in a row as they look to push into the top half of the table.
Pep Guardiola’s side have been at their best from an attacking standpoint this season, being the most prolific side in the Premier League with 27 goals. Erling Haaland has led the way for City, scoring a league best 14 goals from 13 appearances, scoring in 9 of his 13 games. The Norwegian's record against Fulham is also excellent, with 6 goals and 1 assist from six league games against Fulham - all resulting in wins. If Fulham can’t find a way to contain Haaland, it’s going to get ugly in this matchup.
Manchester City have an unbelievable record against Fulham, winning their last 15 Premier League games against Fulham, and being unbeaten in their last 20 games against Fulham. The last time Fulham defeated Manchester City in a league fixture, was in April 2009. The last four meetings haven’t been all that close either with Manchester City winning by scorelines of 5-1, 4-1, 3-2 and 2-0, Man City will cruise to another big win over Fulham.

Brighton vs Aston Villa
American Express Stadium, Thursday 4th December, 6:30am AEDT
The biggest game of matchday 14 sees a battle of fourth versus fifth, as Brighton and Aston Villa face off. These two clubs are in great form with Aston Villa coming into this clash off three straight wins, while Brighton have three wins and a draw from their last four games. Aston Villa are in fourth place on 24 points, and could be in second place at the conclusion of the Matchday if results go their way, while Brighton are two points behind Villa and will go into the top four with a win on Thursday morning.
The big factor for Aston Villa in this clash is their ability to control possession, which could give them the ascendancy in this match. Villa rank 5th in the league for possession (53.5%), while Brighton rank 10th (49.9%), Villa have won the possession count in their last three games, which have all been wins. Going on the road, expect Aston Villa to try and control the tempo of the game, to limit the Seagulls attacking potency.
When Villa controls the tempo of games, it allows their defence to get set behind the ball, which has been one of the best in the league this season. Aston Villa have only conceded 11 goals, and will need to be at their best against a Brighton side which has scored the equal fourth most goals in the league this season (21). It’s a battle of attack versus defence, which one stands tall and wins out? Aston Villa’s form has been excellent over the last two months, winning seven of their last eight games, and they will continue their winning ways.

Liverpool vs Sunderland
Anfield, Thursday 4th December, 7:15am AEDT
Liverpool will be looking for back to back wins for the first time since September, when they host Sunderland on Thursday morning. It's a crucial clash with Sunderland in 6th and Liverpool 8th, separated by only one point, with a win putting either team on the cusp of the top four. Sunderland got back on the winners list on the weekend, with a stirring 3-2, coming back from 2-0 down. Liverpool also got back on the winners list, with a comfortable 2-0 win on the road against West Ham.
Sunderland have been one of the biggest surprises of the season, to be in the mix for a top four position in their first season after being promoted has been a big shock. The big challenge for Sunderland however comes away from home, where they have struggled this season. The Black Cats have a 2-1-3 record in away games, and face a Liverpool side that has shown they can be dominant at home, only losing once at Anfield last season.
Although Sunderland have impressed, the reality is they haven’t quite stacked up against the best teams in the league. Sunderland have only one win against a team currently in the top nine, from four attempts. Liverpool will be relieved of some pressure after finally breaking their losing streak last week, and the top four is well and truly within their sights if they can win this game. Expect a big performance from the Reds against an inexperienced Sunderland side.
