EPL 2025-26: Matchday 12 Preview & Betting Tips
Liverpool vs Nottingham Forest
Anfield, Sunday 23rd November, 2:30am AEDT
Liverpool will be looking to halt their slide when they host the struggling Nottingham Forest on Sunday morning. Liverpool have now lost five of their last six games, and have now dropped to eighth place in what has been a remarkable slide after comfortably leading the league at one stage this season. Nottingham Forest picked up their second win of the season in their last game, with a 3-1 win over Leeds, to now be only two points away from getting out of the relegation zone.
Liverpool have conceded 12 of their 17 goals this season, in their last six games alone. Arne Slot’s defence has completely fallen off, and they were badly exposed in their 3-0 defeat against Manchester City. Fortunately for the Reds, they come up against the second worst attack in the league, with Forest scoring only 10 goals this season. The gap between these two sides from an attacking perspective looms as the key differentiating factor.
It’s only Matchday 12, but Liverpool are fighting for their title hopes given how far they’ve fallen back of the league leaders. The Reds need to desperately get into gear, and a confidence building win over a struggling outfit looks right on the cards here. If Forest sit back and let Liverpool dominate possession, things could get very ugly in this matchup at Anfield. Arne Slot’s side will bounce back with a big win over a battling Nottingham Forest.

Newcastle vs Manchester City
St James’ Park, Sunday 23rd November, 4:30am AEDT
Manchester City will be looking to keep the pressure on Arsenal when they travel to St James’ Park to take on Newcastle. Pep Guardiola’s side picked up a crucial win over Liverpool in their last outing, well and truly keeping City in the title race. Manchester City gained an extra boost with Arsenal dropping points, leaving City just four points behind the league leaders. Newcastle continue to struggle, having lost three of their last four games to be sitting in 14th place, well below expectation.
Erling Haaland continued his brilliant season, scoring again to make it 14 goals from 11 appearances in the Premier League this season. Man City have been the most prolific team in front of goal this season, scoring 23 goals in 11 games. City have also been one of the best defensive sides in the league, conceding 8 goals to be the second best defence in season ‘25/’26. Newcastle on the other hand are one of the worst attacking teams in the league, having scored only 11 goals, ranked 17th in the league.
Manchester City’s record against Newcastle across the last 19 years is one of the most dominant in English football. Since 2006 Man City have played 35 Premier League games against Newcastle, with a stunning 28 wins, 6 draws and only 1 loss in that timespan. Manchester City will continue their strong record against the Magpies and their hot form this season, piling on more misery for Newcastle.

Arsenal vs Tottenham
Emirates Stadium, Monday 24th November, 3:30am AEDT
The first North London Derby of the season looms as a massive clash, with Arsenal sitting atop the Premier League table and Tottenham in fifth place. Arsenal’s five game winning streak was ended in a 2-2 draw with Sunderland a fortnight ago, with the Gunners conceding in stoppage time to see their gap on Man City reduced to four points. Tottenham now have just one win from their last four games, after they conceded a 96th minute goal to be held to a 2-2 draw against Manchester United. Spurs are now four points behind second place Manchester City and eight points behind Arsenal.
Arsenal’s balance has been exemplary this season, ranking as the number one defence (5 goals conceded), the third ranked attack (20 goals scored) and ranked third for possession (58.5%). Tottenham rank 6th, 5th and 6th respectively in those categories, so these teams match up very well against each other. The midfield battle looms crucial in being able to dictate the other areas of the pitch, the team that can get on top in the possession battle will go a long way towards winning.
Arsenal are in much better form than Tottenham, being unbeaten in their last eight games and only losing one game so far this season. The Gunners have certainly had the better of their rivals in recent seasons too, winning three straight league fixtures against Tottenham and six of their last eight league games against their rivals. Spurs are beginning to falter, and with Man City pressing, the Gunners know they must win, and they will do so.
