EPL 2019-20: Matchday 33 Preview & Betting Tips

July 3rd 2020, 4:31pm, By: SundayLeagueShark

The English Premier League title has been awarded and for the first time since 1990, Liverpool are league Champions! Liverpool might have celebrated a bit too hard over the last week as they were defeated 4-0 by Manchester City on Friday morning and although the title has been decided, there is still six rounds of games to be played.

Matchday 33 will get underway this Saturday night (AEST) with Norwich taking on Brighton from 9.30pm. As usual, we have a full preview and betting tips for the key matchups of the week below.

EPL Matchday 33 Betting Tips

Manchester United vs Bournemouth

Sunday 12am (AEST)

Despite the title being decided, this is a massive game for both Manchester United and Bournemouth. The Red Devils are in a fight with Leicester City, Chelsea and Wolverhampton for the last two spots in the top four and the Champions League qualification that comes with it. Bournemouth are in a battle of their own, one to avoid relegation as they currently sit in 19th place on the table.

The last time these two teams faced off, Bournemouth pinched a 1-0 win at home, but before that, the Cherries hadn’t defeated Manchester United since the 2015 season, a run that spanned seven total games. Bournemouth have not won in their last seven games, dating back to a 2-1 win over Aston Villa in February. They have also lost all three of their games since the season resumed, a 2-0 loss to Palace, a 1-0 loss to Wolves and a 4-1 loss to Newcastle on Thursday morning.

Can’t see how the Cherries are going to compete here against a Manchester United squad that will be firing on all cylinders in an attempt to jump into the top four. Manchester United shouldn’t give an inch here and in the three games since the season resumed, Bournemouth have scored just 1 goal. Back the Red Devils to win this one to nil.

Wolverhampton vs Arsenal

Sunday 2.30am (AEST)

Wolverhampton have been fantastic since the season resumed, winning all three of their games to charge up the EPL table. They haven’t conceded a single goal in those three games, downing West Ham 2-0, Bournemouth 1-0 and Aston Villa 1-0. They currently sit just two points out of the top four and have a relatively cruisy run home until they play Chelsea in what could be the Champions League qualification decider on the final day of the season.

Arsenal started their comeback to the EPL on the wrong foot, losing to Manchester City and Brighton in the space of a week. Since then, however, they have turned a corner as they look to lock down a Europa league spot. They have three wins in a row over Southampton, Sheffield and Norwich.

Tough game to call here between two in-form teams but we have to slightly favour Wolverhampton due to their defensive prowess of late. Pretty good value about the Wolves to secure the three points here and keep the pressure on Manchester United, Chelsea and Leicester City.

Chelsea vs Watford

Sunday 5am (AEST)

Another massive matchup here between a side fighting to stay in the top four and one fighting to stay in the Premier League. Chelsea suffered a disappointing loss to West Ham in Matchday 32, one that allowed the trailing teams to within just two points of themselves. They’ll be desperate to get back on the winners list here to ensure they stay in the Champions League qualification zone.

Watford currently sit above the relegation zone by a single point. Their current lead surely won’t be enough with six games to go, so they’ll need to secure at least a few more points if they hope to stay in the top flight next season. They were downed 3-1 at the hands of Southampton in Matchday 32.

Watford have struggled since the resumption of the EPL season, drawing with Leicester in their first game back before losing to Burnley and Southampton. Chelsea didn’t look in great form in their loss in Matchday 32 but should still have the goods over a depleted Watford side here, especially at home with so much on the line.
