BBL10 Season Preview & Betting Tips
BBL10 Ladder Prediction
It’s always a tough prospect predicting the ladder for the upcoming Big Bash League season. There is usually at least one team that comes out of the woodworks to overachieve and we think this season it could be the Sydney Thunder. The bookmakers have the Thunder as the least likely to win the BBL10 title at $11.00 but after impressing last season and retaining the majorty of their core, we think they will finish in the top five this season.
The Stars, Sixers, Scorchers and Canes also look to have the stronger squads in the competition and are amongst the teams that won’t be too hindered by international duty. Those four plus the Thunder make up our top five in BBL10.
1. Melbourne Stars ($4.33)
2. Perth Scorchers ($6.00)
3. Sydney Sixers ($5.50)
4. Hobart Hurricanes ($8.00)
5. Sydney Thunder ($11.00)
6. Brisbane Heat ($7.00)
7. Adelaide Strikers ($6.00)
8. Melbourne Renegades ($9.00)
BBL10 Championship
Will it finally be the year for the Melbourne Stars? The Stars have been one of the most successful clubs in the history of the Big Bash League but they are still to win their elusive first title. They have come agonisingly the last two seasons, making it the Grand Final in both BBL08 and BBL09 only to go down to the Renegades and Sixers respectively, arguably their two biggest rivals.
One thing working in the Stars favour this year is that they won’t be hindered by international selection at all. Their big three of Glenn Maxwell, Marcus stoinis and Adam Zampa will all play every single game of the season barring injury while they have also added some serious international talent with the likes of West Indians Andre Fletcher and Nicholas Pooran along with Afghani spinner Zahir Khan. The Stars are our pick to finally lift their first Big Bahs League trophy this season.

BBL10 Tournament Top Runscorer
We are all over Usman Khawaja like a rash in this market. The former international star has fallen out of favour in the Justin Langer regime and the Big Bash League will benefit greatly from that. Once regarded as the cornerstone of the Australian Test and ODI line-up in the absence of Steve Smith and David Warner, we have no doubt that Khawaja still has the ability to be one of the best batsman in the country.
We also think Usman will enter this season with a chip on his shoulder after seemingly being completely removed from the international scene. He’ll be looking to prove Langer and his cohorts wrong with a massive performance in what has arguably become the most important domestic competition in Australia. He will play every game for the lime green and is coming off a big ton in his last first class match.
Value: Max Bryant ($41)

BBL10 Tournament Top Wicket Taker
The premier white ball spinner in Australia is our pick to top the wicket takers list in the Big Bash League this season. Adam Zampa had a solid limited overs campaign against India, claiming 9 wickets in just three ODI’s and two T20’s with one game still to play at the time of writing.
Unlike previous years, Zampa will be afforded the opportunity of playing every single game of the season for the Stars, with the international limited overs calendar to be completed by opening night in the BBL. The leg-spinner sits 7th in the all-time leading wicket takers list in the BBL with 69 wickets in 63 career games.
