Carlos Alcaraz comes to Shanghai off the back off an epic finals win in Beijing over Jannik Sinner. The Spaniard was 0-3* down in the final set tiebreak, before reeling off some exceptional tennis on his way to winning the last 7 points of the match. The question is: can Carlos back it up quickly in Shanghai?
I feel like if there is any area to target when opposing Alcaraz, it is moreso the first set here. This is a massive tournament, and they will give him some rest, however he did mention some issues with the overall scheduling this time of year. He faces Juncheng Shang here, and I think this is a great spot to support Shang in the first set. He is coming off a title in Chengdu a couple of weeks ago, and I can absolutely forgive him for his first up loss in Beijing backing up from the biggest win of his career.
I will split my staking, more heavily weighted to Shang winning the first set.
