AFL Round 16’s feature matchup this Friday night is at the SCG where the streaking Sydney Swans will host the Western Bulldogs. The Swans have stablised things a little in the last two weeks with emphatic wins while also returning a few players from injury. They are still two wins behind the Western Bulldogs who are sitting in 8th place so this becomes a must win for the Swans if they would like to hold onto any hope at all of still making finals in 2025.
As always, this is all about the daily fantasy and this Friday night game draws another massive $50,000 prize pool at Draftstars in their main contest, plus more qualifiers for the $1 million AFL Star contest! In addition, there are a variety of alternate contests:

AFL Daily Fantasy Lineup Tips: Round 16: Sydney vs Western Bulldogs
AFL Sydney vs Bulldogs: Where to Attack?
The Western Bulldogs have been one of the more stingy teams this season giving up below average points across all positions over the last 10 games. In particular they have continued the trend of past years where they have been one of the harder teams to score against in the midfield. During this period they are giving up over 6 points per game under league average, which is the lowest in the league.
The Swans have been giving up one of the highest amount of points in the league across the back positions. Specifically, they have given up over 6 points per game to the designated kicker (fifth highest in the league) and over 6 points per game to attacking half backs and wingers (fourth highest in the league).
Game Script – Western Bulldogs backs and midfielders
AFL Sydney vs Bulldogs: Our Value Fantasy Picks
Nick Coffield ($7,880) surfaced back from the dead last week. Now granted last week was against the best matchup in the league for backs, but he didn’t disappoint for a value play notching up 74 points. This week the Bulldogs again face a team that has been giving up plenty of points to defenders, and stacking up the Bulldogs backs will be a critical play. This slate is very challenging from a value option perspective, so finding salary relief in my Bulldogs back stacks will be my number one strategy and that's where Coffield comes in.
Hayden McLean ($7,530)… while the Bulldogs have stabilised their points conceded to key forwards this season and limited to just under league average over the last ten games, I will sill look to attack this on a slate where there a limited options to target. McLean would make an option as both a forward or if you are looking for a contrarian play by rostering him in the ruck (noting both rucks have been stingey in points conceded this season).
AFL Sydney vs Bulldogs: Our Mid Price Fantasy Picks
Justin McInerney ($11,980) has been in top form since returning to the Swans this season. Over the past four weeks he has not gone under 89 fantasy points, which establishes a really strong floor for this mid price point. He won’t be playing on the inside midfielder where the Bulldogs are at their most restrictive, so look for him to get some ball on the outside at the SCG.
AFL Sydney vs Bulldogs: Our Premium Fantasy Picks
Bailey Dale ($14,870) is having yet another All Australian looking season averaging 96 fantasy points with a ceiling of 150 and putting up 108 over the last three games. This week he comes into another elite matchup against Sydney who are giving up over 6 points per game above average to the designated kicker, which is Dale’s role. Stack him up as your premium back with other Bulldogs.
Ed Richards ($15,590) is another Bulldog who is having a career best season. My lean will be towards the Bulldogs midfield and I think we need to be wary of avoiding the player that James Jordan goes to. Best guess is that he goes to Bontempelli to start so look towards Richards and Kennedy as the premium midfield options for the Bulldogs.
