The Field
Leading the charge is World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who enters as the clear favorite after a dominant stretch, including victories at the Byron Nelson, PGA Championship, and Memorial Tournament. The Course
Oakmont Country Club, established in 1903, is renowned for its rigorous setup. The course plays as a par-70, featuring only two par-5s, which increases its difficulty by limiting scoring opportunities. Its layout demands precision, with narrow fairways, deep bunkers, and some of the fastest greens in championship golf.
The course has been lengthened to 7,372 yards for this year's championship, adding to its challenge. Notably, Oakmont features the longest par-3 in major history, requiring players to execute long iron or fairway wood shots to reach the green.
Historically, Oakmont has produced high-scoring U.S. Opens, with only a small percentage of players finishing under par. Its demanding conditions test every aspect of a golfer's skill, making it a true examination of championship caliber.
