PGA Tour: U.S. Open Betting Tips

U.S. Open: Top Contenders

Bryson DeChambeau ($8.50/Top 10 $1.83)

Bryson DeChambeau arrives at the 2025 U.S. Open riding a wave of form and confidence, fresh off contending in both majors this season. The 2020 and 2024 U.S. Open champion has matured significantly since his bomb-and-gouge heyday, pairing power with newfound control and a vastly improved short game. His recent performances in majors have shown a balance of aggression and patience—traits essential for navigating the punishing setups typical of the U.S. Open. If the driver stays hot and his putting continues trending up, DeChambeau has the muscle and mentality to overpower the field once again.

Ludvig Aberg ($28/Top 20 $1.95)

Ludvig Åberg has rapidly ascended into the game's elite, and his game seems tailor-made for a major breakthrough. The Swede combines ice-cold composure with elite ball-striking, ranking near the top on Tour in strokes gained off the tee and approach. His ability to shape shots and keep the ball in play off the tee gives him a huge edge on demanding layouts. With top-tier performances already under his belt in big events—including a strong Masters debut and multiple high finishes in 2025—Åberg’s blend of youth, power, and control make him a genuine threat to lift the trophy at Oakmont.

U.S. Open: Dark Horses

Corey Conners ($56/Top 40 $1.72)

Corey Conners might fly under the radar, but his precision-based game fits the U.S. Open like a glove. Among the most consistent fairway-and-green machines on Tour, the Canadian thrives in difficult scoring conditions that reward patience and ball control. He’s sharpened his once-shaky short game and shown improved resolve under Sunday pressure, making him more than just a fringe contender. If Oakmont firm, fast greens turn the championship into a second-shot contest, Conners' elite iron play could be his ticket to the top.

Cameron Young ($111/Top 40 $2.00)

Cameron Young is still chasing his first Tour win, but his major record and explosive talent suggest it's only a matter of time—and Oakmont could be the perfect place for a breakthrough. A long, fearless driver of the ball, Young thrives on big stages and has repeatedly put himself in contention at majors, including top-10s at The Open and PGA Championship. His aggressive style suits a venue where birdie chances are scarce and capitalizing on scoring holes is critical. If the putter cooperates, his high ceiling could carry him all the way to a maiden major title.

The Field

Leading the charge is World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who enters as the clear favorite after a dominant stretch, including victories at the Byron Nelson, PGA Championship, and Memorial Tournament. Scheffler's consistent top-10 finishes since March highlight his exceptional form as he seeks his first U.S. Open title.

Defending champion Bryson DeChambeau returns with momentum, having recently secured a LIV Golf victory in Korea. DeChambeau's unique approach and power game make him a formidable contender on Oakmont's challenging layout.

Other notable players include Rory McIlroy, who, despite a missed cut at the Canadian Open, remains a top contender with a strong U.S. Open record and a recent Masters triumph. Jon Rahm, the 2021 U.S. Open winner, aims to rebound from recent major performances. Xander Schauffele and Collin Morikawa, both past major champions, also look to make their mark despite recent challenges.

The Course

Oakmont Country Club, established in 1903, is renowned for its rigorous setup. The course plays as a par-70, featuring only two par-5s, which increases its difficulty by limiting scoring opportunities. Its layout demands precision, with narrow fairways, deep bunkers, and some of the fastest greens in championship golf.

The course has been lengthened to 7,372 yards for this year's championship, adding to its challenge. Notably, Oakmont features the longest par-3 in major history, requiring players to execute long iron or fairway wood shots to reach the green.

Historically, Oakmont has produced high-scoring U.S. Opens, with only a small percentage of players finishing under par. Its demanding conditions test every aspect of a golfer's skill, making it a true examination of championship caliber.
