PGA Tour: 3M Open Betting Tips

TPC Twin Cities, Thursday 25th - Sunday July 28th

Tony Finau is the best golfer on paper that is lining up this weekend, and despite a poor showing at the British Open, he is the favourite with bookmakers.

Sam Burns, Billy Horschel and Luke Clanton are other notable players set to take their place.

The Field

The quality isn't deep, and understandably so given it is the next event after the British Open, so the vast majority of the big guns are taking time off. But, Tony Finau is taking his place despite his poor British Open showing, looking to get some confidence heading into the second half of 2024.

The Course

TPC Twin Cities is an 18 hole course that is a total distance of 7164 yards (6551 metres). There are four par three's, four par five's and 10 par four's. It has hosted this tournament since 2001 and generally speaking, high scoring is well and truly on the cards.

Betting Tips

Tony Finau ($12/Top 20 $1.72 at Betfair)

He was really disappointing at the British Open, missing the cut and not being able to make it to the weekend. That was a surprise given his past three tournaments, he had finished top ten and was in form. This field is much weaker vs what he has been contesting and if he brings his form prior to last week, he looks the one.

Billy Horschel ($23/Top 20 $2.25 at Betfair)

He led the British Open after the third round but couldn't quite finish it off, but did finish in a tie for second. That is serious momentum and hopefully that can be carried into this tournament, where he does seem value given how well he played at Royal Troon.

Akshay Bhatia ($23/Top 20 $2.10 at Betfair)

Doesn't win tournaments frequently but statistically, he is the second most consistent golfer in this tournament. He ranks 10th on the tour in strokes gained this season, so finding low scores is certainly up his sleeve, which suits this course and for mine, looks great value.
