The competition leaders the Demons will host Collingwood in a massive Queen's Birthday public holiday clash today to finish off Round 13. Melbourne have been flying high all season and will look to cement their position at the top of league with a win today over the Magpies. Collingwood will be keen to build on last week’s much needed win in Adelaide as they continue to fight to remain off the bottom of the ladder. They’ve lost three of their last four and will be up against it yet again as they take on the the Demons today. While this traditional match has been moved from the MCG to the SCG, you can guarantee both sides will be well and truly up for this.

Melbourne are absolutely flying this season, having won 11 of their 12 matches this season. Their one loss came by one point and they have clearly been the benchmark for the year. They are yet to play Collingwood this season but the way things have panned out for the first few months, it is hard to see the Pies putting up a big enough fight to make this a tough match for the home side.
Collingwood have been plagued by poor goal kicking displays all year, eventuating in some of the lowest totals for any teams this season. Unfortunately their defence hasn’t been up to scratch either and need to seriously lift if they want to avoid a bottom of the ladder finish. The Pies have resisted the urge to recall big man Mason Cox and will look to play small, fast football with their team selections.
The Demons continue to roll and have put together some elite all round performances. They would need to be seriously off their game to not come out on top today in what is a huge Queen’s Birthday match. Collingwood will be playing with a little extra determination this week however, after coach Nathan Buckley announced his resignation earlier this week.
With all that taken into account it is hard to see any other result than a Melbourne win and I expect them to be far too strong for the struggling Pies.
