The group stages of the 2019 Copa America have now been completed, which means it’s time for the knockout phase! Here, we take a look the quarter finals on this weekend and provide our best bet for all four of them! Check out our tips below and good luck to everyone following!
2019 Copa America Quarter Finals Betting Tips
Brazil vs Paraguay (Friday 10:30am AEST)
We picked Brazil to take out the tournament in our futures article a week or so ago, and they haven’t put a foot wrong yet. They finished top of Group A and are yet to concede a goal through three fixtures. On the other hand, Paraguay made their way through the group stage as one of the top three third-placed teams, despite being yet to win a match.
There’s no value at all in the head-to-head market with Brazil being the overwhelming favourite here and for good reason. They’re by far the better of the two nations and should punish Paraguay in front of their adoring fans. We’re keen on Brazil winning this by a couple of goals, whilst keeping their clean sheet record intact. Take the Brazilians to win this by 3+ goals at nice odds.
Venezuela vs Argentina (Saturday 5am AEST)
Second up in the quarterfinals we’ve got an interesting match between Venezuela and Argentina. Venezuela are undefeated through three fixtures and qualified as the second-best team in Group A. Their best result was a 0-0 draw with Brazil, which they were huge underdogs in. Meanwhile, Argentina have been disappointing up until this point and were fairly lucky to qualify after winning just one match in Group B. Superstar Lionel Messi is yet to really make his mark in this tournament.
This is probably the most intriguing of the four quarterfinals. Venezuela have been the better team of the two, but Argentina have the quality up front to trouble any team in the world. On form, we see the underdogs making this a real dogfight and either bagging the win or forcing it to extra time.
Colombia vs Chile (Saturday 9am AEST)
The other really interesting quarterfinal involves Colombia and Chile. Colombia were fantastic in Group B, finishing first and defeating the likes of Argentina. They’ve only kicked three goals to date, but still are yet to concede through three fixtures. Chile have also been pretty good in this tournament to date, with their lone blemish being a loss to Uruguay in Group C. They qualified as the second-best team in their group and have had solid contributions from their star players.
While Chile have been solid up until this point, Colombia have been in fantastic form, particularly down back. They’ve shown the ability to beat some of the best teams in the world and possess the star power to go really deep in this tournament. We have them winning this match and progressing to the semi-finals
Uruguay vs Peru (Sunday 5am AEST)
The last of the quarterfinals will take place early Sunday morning with Uruguay taking on Peru. Uruguay were the dark horses coming into the tournament and made light work of thr group stages, qualifying as the best team in Group C with two wins and one draw in three fixtures. On the other hand, Peru have been great to make it to the knockout stage after qualifying as the third best team in Group A behind Brazil and Venezuela.
Uruguay are clearly the more talented of the two nations and possess an out-and-out superstar in Luis Suarez. He was our pick to win the Golden Boot pre-tournament and hasn’t disappointing thus far as he has a share lead in the award. Look for him to lead his country past Peru and into the semi’s.
