Matchday 8 of the English Premier League begins on Saturday night with an interesting clash between Brighton and Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur. Check out our preview and betting tips for that clash and more below. As always, good luck to everyone following us this weekend!
EPL Matchday 8 Betting Tips
Brighton & Hove Albion vs Tottenham Hotspur (Saturday 9:30pm AEST)
The early game will be from Falmer Stadium where Brighton will be looking to bounce back from consecutive Premier League losses. The Gulls got their season off to a flier with a 3-0 road win against Watford but have since gone winless in six fixtures and have slipped down to 16th on the table as a result.
Tottenham may have defeated Southampton 2-1 at home last weekend, but they look to be in all sorts of trouble at the moment. Prior to that they lost to a fourth-tier English club in the League Cup and then mid-week they were hammered 7-2 by Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
We see a genuine opportunity for Brighton to take a scalp in the opening Matchday 8 fixture. They’ll be well aware that the Spurs are low on confidence and are playing far from their best, so we expect them to give them a real showing and potentially grab the three points.

Liverpool vs Leicester City (Sunday 12am AEST)
The match of the round sees first-placed Liverpool host third-placed Leicester. The Reds were lucky to come away with all three points last time out against the Blades, but as all champion teams do, they found a way. Liverpool remain perfect in the league with 7/7 wins and are five points clear of second-placed City.
Leicester don’t quite fly under the radar as much since their title win in 2016, however, they’ve sneakily put together a terrific start to their EPL campaign. They were at their brilliant best against the Magpies last weekend, banging in five goals while keeping a clean sheet.
This is definitely the match to watch at the 12am timeslot. Both teams score goals for fun and play an attractive style of soccer. This is a huge danger game for the Reds, and we suspect they’ll need to bang in two or three to claim maximum points.

Manchester City vs Wolverhampton Wanderers (Sunday 12am AEST)
The Citizens recovered well from a few slip-ups in the Premier League and have now won five matches on the spin in all competitions, scoring 19 goals and conceding just one while doing so. Last time out in the EPL they took care of the Toffees 3-1 in a fairly comfortable match.
The Wolves finally got the monkey off their back in the league last weekend, defeating Watford 2-0 at home. It was a much-needed win and saw them climb from 19th to 13th on the table. The Wolves now hit the road to embark on one of the toughest tasks in world soccer.
City have banged in 12 goals and conceded none in their last two home games and are absolutely flying at the moment. We expect them to make very light work of a struggling Wolves outfit that has only kept one clean sheet in all competitions this season.

West Ham United vs Crystal Palace (Sunday 3:30am AEDT)
The Hammers are enjoying a really nice start to the season and get a chance to leap into the top four with a win on Sunday morning. They’ve lost just one fixture (5-0 Manchester City) from seven and have won each of their last two home EPL matches 2-0, one of which came against Manchester United.
Crystal Palace are often the giant slayers, but they’re also a side that loses matches they shouldn’t. They’ve enjoyed a relatively strong start to the season with 11 points from seven starts and come into this match off a 2-0 win at home to Norwich last weekend.
We’re really liking the look of West Ham this season, particularly over the last month or so. They’re unbeaten in their last six EPL matches and are playing their best when they’re on their home deck. We expect them to take care of business against an inconsistent Palace side.
