2019-20 EPL: Matchday 12 Preview & Betting Tips

November 8th 2019, 7:26pm, By: Jake Smit

The 2019-20 EPL season continues this weekend with Matchday 12. The huge Liverpool vs Manchester City fixture will be the last of what promises to be a very interesting round of topflight soccer! As always, we bring you our three best bets for the weekend’s action and wish you all the best of luck if following our plays.

EPL Matchday 12 Betting Tips

Leicester City vs Arsenal

Sunday 4:30am, King Power Stadium

Leicester have been fantastic so far this season and have really hit their straps over the last couple of outings. They’ve won seven of their last eight in all competitions, which includes a 9-0 drubbing of Southampton two starts back. Last weekend they took care of Crystal Palace in a tricky away fixture, which keeps them in third place on the ladder.

Arsenal have had a less than ideal start to their campaign and have made changes to their hierarchy this week. Star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubemeyang has been handed the captains armband, replacing the disgraced Granit Xhaka. The Gunners are four games without a win in all competitions and it won’t get any easy when they travel to Leicester this weekend.

This looks like the value of the round in our opinion. Leicester have been banging in goals for fun and have a goal difference that is only bettered by Manchester City. At home where they’re 4-1-0 this season, we expect them to get the job done against the out of sorts Arsenal.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Aston Villa

Monday 1am, Molineux Stadium

The Wolves look to have overcome some form issues early in the season and are now nine games unbeaten in major competitions. They’ve been dominating their group in the Europa League but have struggled to claim all three points in the EPL on enough occasions to frustrate fans. They’ve only won two of their 11 league matches to date, but a string of draws has them sitting in a fairly comfortable position at the moment.

Aston Villa have been pretty impressive in their first season back in the Premier League. Prior to losses against title contenders Liverpool and Manchester City, Villa were on a bit of a roll with consecutive wins against Brighton and Norwich. They’ll be looking to get back on the winners list sooner rather than later to avoid dropping into the relegation zone.

This is another fixture that we’re pretty keen to attack. The Wolves have shown signs of a top 6 side in recent weeks and have built a nice little unbeaten run in the process. We expect them to be far too good for Villa on their home deck, en route to their third win in the league this season.

Liverpool vs Manchester City

Monday 3:30am, Anfield

Liverpool have been doing what all elite teams do, win games while playing well below their best. They’ve had multiple escape wins this season, perhaps none better than their 2-1 win at Villa last weekend when they equalised in the 87th and scored the winner in the 94th. The Reds are now 10-1-0 on the season and are six points clear of City at the top.

Manchester City escaped a tricky situation as well last weekend. They trailed 1-0 at the main break against Southampton but found two goals in the final 20 minutes to record a 2-1 win of their own. The Citizens will bring in an impressive 4-1-0 away record to Anfield on Monday morning.

This is the matchup that everyone wants to see and unfortunately, it’s in the graveyard timeslot for us Aussies. However, all of us diehard soccer fans will be watching with interest and looking to make some cash! Last season the two fixtures between these teams finished as 0-0 and 2-1 and we’re expecting something similar again this time around. Neither team wants to drop points to the other, which usually leads to a very defensive game.
