2017-18 NBL: Round 11 Preview & Betting Tips

December 21st 2017, 5:33pm, By: SmitsTips

A rare bad round for us last week with our NBL tips. However, we are still well up on the season and are confident we’ll bounce back this week. There’s another 5 exciting games coming up this weekend, so join us here where we will assess some of the key upcoming games and preview our NBL betting tips for Round 11!

2017-18 NBL Round 11 Preview & Betting Tips

Melbourne United Vs Adelaide 36ers (Friday, 22nd December, 7:30pm AEDT)

Round 10 in the NBL saw Melbourne United finally able to string together consecutive wins, after defeating the Illawarra Hawks 84-78 on the road. However, the win came at a big cost, with MVP candidate Casey Prather dislocating his elbow and is expected to miss at least 2 months. United will return home this week to host the 36ers, who they have managed to beat on all 3 meetings this season.

The 36ers claimed their most impressive win of the season last round when they were 15-point victors in New Zealand. They now have an 8-6 record and are sitting in fourth position at the halfway mark of the season. Coach Joey Wright will try to avoid being swept by United on Saturday Night when they play in front of a hostile crown at Hisense Arena. Josh Childress has been a positive for the 36ers in his two starts in the absence of Mitch Creek and will need another big game if they’re to be any chance on Saturday.

After winning all 3 meetings between the two sides this season it’s hard to see how it will change when they face off for the last time in Melbourne. We expect the hosts to keep the ball rolling and add another win to their streak.

TIP: Melbourne United at the line (-3.5) - $1.92 at CrownBet

Brisbane Bullets Vs Sydney Kings (Saturday, 22nd December 5:30pm AEDT)

The Bullets have found some form in recent weeks and managed to win both of their games last round. Their most impressive win was over the defending champion Perth Wildcats, who they defeated by 6 points on the road. The Bullets are now well and truly in playoff contention and are 7-8 and in fifth position after a slow start to the season.

The Sydney Kings won their only game in Round 10, defeating the Taipans by 19 points at home. Despite the win, the Kings are still clearly the worst team in the league, made evident by their 4-12 record and bottom of the standings position. The Kings have also really struggled on the road and will be coming up against one of the in-form teams of the league on Saturday.

The odds are extremely generous in this one and we would take Brisbane every day of the week here. Don’t be surprised to see this one blowout early.

TIP: Brisbane Bullets at the line (-2.5) - $1.85 at Sportsbet

Illawarra Hawks Vs Perth Wildcats (Saturday, 23rd December 7:30pm AEDT)

The Hawks are trying their best to compete with the Kings for the worst team in the league title. Despite having three legitimate stars on their roster in Ogilvy, Conger and Clarke, they have managed to win just 5 of their 14 games this season. Last round saw the Hawks fall short at home against Melbourne United in a lacklustre performance. With just under a half of the season remaining, Illawarra needs to find some winning form ASAP if they’re to push towards the playoffs.

The Wildcats suffered a rare home loss last round when they were defeated by the in-form Bullets. Despite the loss, Bryce Cotton managed to pour in 20 points, making it his third consecutive 20+ point game. The Wildcats are a proud basketball club and will be sure to rectify last rounds performance with a big win this weekend.

Bryce Cotton has finally hit his straps and is a scoring threat on every possession. We are expecting another big game from him in a Wildcats victory.

TIP: Bryce Cotton scores 20+ points and Wildcats win - $3.25 at Ladbrokes
