2016-17 EPL: Week 8 Preview & Betting Tips

October 12th 2016, 9:23pm, By: C.McGregor9

The 2016-17 EPL season continues this weekend and every side has now suffered a loss but there are still two teams searching for their first victory. It is a huge weekend of action with a lot of matches between the heavyweights o fhte competition. Continue reading for our EPL Week 8 Preview and Betting Tips.

Chelsea vs Leicester City (Saturday 10.30pm AEST)

The champions of the last two season will being week 8 of the EPL action this weekend and neither team would be entirely happy with their position on the ladder.

Chelsea were able to bounce back to winning ways after defeating Hull City 2-0 on the road in their last start. Prior to that they had suffered two straight embarrassing defeats and also had a draw with Swansea where they were lucky to escape with a point. There are a lot of questions surrounding their defence and they will continue as they have aging players at the back that aren’t keeping up with the pace of the opposition and they will be a big challenge for them this weekend when they take on the speed of Jamie Vardy.

The Foxes title defence has started poorly but they have lifted in matches when they have faced tough opponents (except for against Manchester United). They have bounced back in the Champions League and have shown they still have a lot of firepower but they are lacking at the back without N’golo Kante who ironically is playing for Chelsea. It will be a big match for him as he will want to play well against the side he won the title with and then left during the offseason. It will be a close match but we are predicting an upset in this one with Leicester grabbing the victory and extending Chelsea’s winless record against them to three games.

TIP: Leicester City @ $5.75 with Ladbrokes

West Bromwich Albion vs Tottenham (Sunday 1am AEST)

Tottenham leapfrogged into second position on the ladder after being the first side to hand Pep Guardialo a loss as manager of Manchester City. It was a huge victory for the Spurs as they were able to hold their opponents scoreless and if it wasn’t for a penalty miss the win would have been even more convincing. They controlled possession of the match and they will continue to be the quiet achievers of the competition whilst the giants around them are the talked about sides.

Meanwhile West Brom sits in the top half of the table and has only suffered two losses this season. However, they won’t be looking forward to facing this weekend’s opponent as they have just one win in their last 13 meetings which includes five losses. We are predicting the Spurs to be far too classy in this contest and grab the win on the road.

TIP: Tottenham @ $1.75 with Sportsbet

Manchester City vs Everton (Sunday 1am AEST)

Unfortunately for Everton they will be facing a Manchester City side that is coming off a loss and it will be tough for them to hand the side back-to-back losses, especially on home soil. Everton started the season with a lot of energy and brilliance but it seems as if sides are beginning to pick up on their style as they will head into this match on the back of a loss and a draw.

Manchester City are undefeated in their past six matches Premier League matches against Everton and they have only conceded four goals during that time. They have been brilliant in all matches except for their loss against the Spurs two weeks ago and we are predicting them to bounce back strongly. However, City did start the season very strongly last year before they hit a slump about two months in. If that is a trend that is going to repeat itself then jumping on Everton could be a good idea. We are going to take a safer approach and predict a draw, especially with striker Romelu Lukaku in good form as he has scored five goals in his past four league games.

TIP: Draw @ $4.80 with William Hill

Liverpool vs Manchester United (Tuesday 6am AEST)

We will have to wait until the early hours of Tuesday morning for this blockbuster match but it should be worth the wait as these two powerhouse clubs go up against each other. Liverpool have climbed into the top four after four straight victories and they are stating a claim to have the best attack in the competition. They have scored more than four goals on three occasions but they have been lacking at the other end of the field at times and it has resulted in their one loss this year.

Meanwhile Manchester United will head into this match with inconsistent form as they were able to dismantle the champions Leicester City but then faulted against Stoke City who are winless this season. They were forced to settle for a draw in that match as their big name players haven’t found the form they were paid for. Paul Pogba is coming off a game winner for France and it was an absolute screamer. He needs to have more of an impact on matches and prove to the world why he is the highest player to be purchased at a transfer in history. We are predicting Liverpool to apply a lot of pressure to the Red Devils and we believe they will be able to do enough to get a victory on home soil as they are true title contenders whilst Manchester United are far too inconsistent.
