2016-17 EPL: Week 18 Preview & Betting Tips

December 21st 2016, 8:11pm, By: C.McGregor9

The 2016-17 EPL season continues early next week with Chelsea still leading the way on the back of their winning streak. Our EPL Week 18 betting tips offer up some tantalising matchups including Leicester vs Everton and Southampton vs Tottenham, see our preview and tips for those games and more below!

EPL Week 18 Betting Tips

Leicester City vs Everton (Tuesday, December 27th at 2am AEST)

The defending champions the Foxes are a shadow of the side they were last season. They are currently sitting in 14th spot on the ladder and are clearly missing the services of N’Golo Kante. The defensive midfielder has made his presence felt at his new club while Leicester struggle to replace him, The side has one win from their last five games and they were forced to settle for a draw on Tuesday.

The Toffees had mixed results last week. They were able to earn a late winner against Arsenal in a game they didn’t deserve to win while they suffered the fate themselves against crosstown rivals Liverpool in a game they didn’t deserve to lose. Everton have only one win from their last five games themselves and have fallen off the perch they were sitting on to start the season. Romelu Lukaku needs to regain his goal scoring form while Jamie Vardy needs to do the same for Leicester. We are predicting this to be a close match with the two sides splitting the points.

TIP: Draw – $3.40 at Sportsbet

Swansea City vs West Ham (Tuesday, December 27th at 2am AEST)

The Swans are sitting in second last position on the ladder and are having a dreadful season. They have conceded the most goals out of any side in the league and it is an area they need to vastly improve in if they are to stand a chance at remaining in the top flight. They will enter this match on the back of a humiliating 3-0 defeat at the hands of Middleborough.

West Ham had a last seven days last week without being exceptional. They earned two 1-0 victories to get the maximum points and move into 13th spot on the ladder and away from the danger zone. They will be very pleased with their two clean sheets as they have had issues defensively this season. The Hammers will keep the run going and take the competition points in this one.

TIP: West Ham to win – $2.75 at CrownBet

Chelsea vs Bournemouth (Tuesday, December 27th at 2am AEST)

Chelsea are currently on a historic run. They have won 11 straight matches and kept nine clean sheets. Considering they began the season with defensive problems it is a credit to their manager Antonio Conte and their players for following his leadership. Diego Costa and Eden Hazard have been dangerous up front and returned to their best form over this period. Costa grabbed the winner on the weekend with his head and we believe he will play a huge part in the side earning its 12th straight victory on Tuesday.

Bournemouth are currently on a loss, win, loss, win, loss streak which suggests they are due for a win – however, we don’t think that will continue as they face the competition leaders. The club will be happy with their current position but they won’t be expected to earn points against Chelsea.

TIP: Chelsea at the line (-1) – $2.00 at Sportsbet

Southampton vs Tottenham (Thursday, December 29th at 6.45am AEST)

The remarkable season of Southampton continues. The side has finished in great spots for the last two season, despite clearing out a lot of players at the end of the year both times. This season they began with a new manager and started slowly but they have found themselves in ninth spot on the ladder. They have a strong defensive structure and while they struggle to score goals, keeping clean sheets has been successful for the side. They win ugly, but winning is winning.

Meanwhile the Spurs are back to winning ways themselves with two straight victories. They are a side that has a great defensive unit themselves and we expect this to be a low scoring match. However, the Spurs clearly have the better attack on paper and with the stats and we believe they will come away from this contest with a narrow one goal win.

TIP: Tottenham to win – $2.50 at Ladbrokes
