Frances Tiafoe vs Pablo Carreno Busta Betting Tips
French Open Second Round (Approx. Thursday 12am AEST)
It has been a bit of a funny year on tour for Frances Tiafoe, however I do think there is a bit of value in his current pricing against Pablo Carreno Busta.
Tiafoe overcame the tricky Roman Safiullin in the first round, defeating the Russian in straight sets. Tiafoe only dropped serves once for the match, aided by winning over 70% of points behind his serve. He can be a little frustrating to back at times, but the talent in his game is undeniable. He also fits the bill as one of the players who you know has the fitness and endurance levels to benefit more from the best of 5 format than most. That should be the case today as well against an opponent coming into the back end of their career.
Carreno Busta managed to defeat Francisco Comesana in straight sets in the first round in what was a decent sized upset on day 1. However, looking at the stats, I am not sure some of the data coming out of the Spaniard’s performance will hold up against Tiafoe. For the match, PCB’s average first serve speed was 175km/h, and his second serve speed was 140km/h. That may be something you can get away with against a player like Comesana, however I think Tiafoe’s ability to attack, take time away from his opponents, and also cover the court quite well defensively, might leave Carreno-Busta a little exposed here.
I am comfortable taking the -3.5 games in this one.
