Welcome to our harness racing preview and betting tips for Gloucester Park on Tuesday, June 25th.
Trent Orwin has cast his eye over the meeting and offered his best bets of the night below.
Barrier draws play a crucial role in harness racing and that looks to be the case here with (1) Diamond Dove and (11) Flynscotsman looking strong contenders. Both horses look close to their right price so happy to go with a Quinella. Diamond Dove has raced well this season with four wins and six placings from 15 starts. She was excellent last start when second to Cyclone Banner. Flynscotsman comes off a pair of seconds and will have a strong sprint late. (2) Allwood Peacemaker and (8) Lucky Sensation are next best.
Expect (1) Rousey to be looking to hold up from barrier one and there has been support in the early market. She has won three of 33 and recent form is good for this class of race. Don’t expect her to outsprint some of her rivals so she will need to ensure a solid tempo. I prefer (11) Millwood Gucci who is a winner of four from 23. Four starts ago she defeated Im Thor and War Club at Bunbury. She isn’t a death seat horse which means her last start can be forgiven. Before that she was a close-up fifth in a Group 2 event. (6) Lil China Doll looks a big threat in the race also.

Early speed battle between (1) Jailbreak and (2) Brookies Jet unless the latter drops straight behind. Brookies Jet was held up for a run last start and third-up from a spell he should be able to run well. He would give a sight if he found the lead. (5) Dennis flew home last start for third behind Bee Seventeen and Mister Rollins; the latter was unlucky in a stand at Pinjarra on Monday so the form could stack up here. Dennis was a winner first-up from a spell when running down Our Virtuoso. The class is (7) Ideal One and he may prove too good but happy to risk him at $1.55 as he may have to face the breeze.
