NFL Week 5 Monday Betting Tips
Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers
4:00am AEDT
Chicago enters Week 5 at 3-1 and has continued to find ways to win despite an injury to starting quarterback Caleb Williams. Tyson Bagent is expected to start again after the Bears won consecutive games with different quarterbacks, while Ben Johnson's offence has benefited from an improved running game and the emergence of tight end Colston Loveland. Defensively, Chicago has been outstanding, holding its past three opponents to 12 points or fewer.
Green Bay has endured a frustrating start to the campaign, sitting at 2-2 after narrowly overcoming Tampa Bay last weekend. Jordan Love remains capable of producing explosive plays, but offensive line issues and inconsistency have made life difficult for the Packers. Green Bay also has revenge on its mind after Chicago won three of the four meetings between these rivals last season, including a remarkable comeback victory in the playoffs.
Prediction: The absence of Williams would ordinarily make Chicago a difficult team to trust on the road, but the Bears have demonstrated they can win with Bagent under centre. Their defence has been one of the most impressive units in football through the opening month, while Green Bay has struggled to consistently protect Love and finish drives. Chicago's ability to control possession through the running game should be important, and we'll back the Bears to continue their strong start with another divisional victory.

San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks
7:25am AEDT
San Francisco has made a perfect start to the season, sitting at 4-0 after victories over the Rams, Dolphins, Cardinals and Broncos. Brock Purdy has been outstanding despite injuries to several of his offensive weapons, leading a 49ers offence averaging more than 30 points per game. San Francisco has also been impressive defensively, but the loss of Nick Bosa and injury concerns surrounding several key contributors present a significant challenge ahead of a difficult divisional road trip.
Seattle enters at 3-1 after bouncing back from its defeat to Washington with a narrow victory over the Chargers. The Seahawks have been particularly impressive defensively under Mike Macdonald, ranking among the league's best teams in several efficiency metrics. Lumen Field also provides a significant advantage, with Seattle having won nine consecutive home games, while Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Rashid Shaheed give Sam Darnold plenty of options against a San Francisco secondary dealing with injuries.
Prediction: This shapes as one of the games of the season so far, with two genuine NFC contenders going head-to-head. San Francisco's unbeaten record demands respect, but Seattle's defence is well equipped to slow Purdy and an offence that has been operating at an exceptionally high level. The Seahawks have also enjoyed recent success containing the 49ers, and their home-field advantage could prove decisive in what should be a physical, closely contested divisional battle. We'll back Seattle to end San Francisco's perfect start.

Baltimore Ravens at Atlanta Falcons
11:20am AEDT
Baltimore faces a difficult assignment in Atlanta with Lamar Jackson sidelined by an ankle injury. Tyler Huntley is expected to start at quarterback, leaving the Ravens likely to lean heavily on Derrick Henry and their rushing attack. Baltimore still has enough talent to remain competitive, particularly defensively, but losing Jackson removes the explosive element that makes the Ravens so difficult to contain. Establishing the run and avoiding turnovers will be essential if Baltimore is to produce an upset.
Atlanta has been one of the more impressive teams through the opening month, with Bijan Robinson leading a dangerous rushing attack and Michael Penix Jr. continuing to develop as the team's starting quarterback. The Falcons enter as favourites after their strong recent form, although they face a short turnaround following Monday night's victory. Baltimore's defence also represents a significant step up in opposition, particularly if the Ravens can limit Robinson and force Penix into obvious passing situations.
Prediction: Jackson's absence is obviously significant, but the market may have overreacted by moving Baltimore from favourite to an underdog of more than a field goal. Huntley has experience operating this offence, and the Ravens can still build their game plan around Henry and a strong defensive unit. Atlanta deserves favouritism at home, but with the Falcons coming off a short week and facing their toughest defensive assignment of the season, we'll take the points with Baltimore.
