Four weeks into the NFL season, we've now seen enough football to identify genuine offensive trends, emerging opportunities and the matchups most likely to produce tournament winning Draftstars scores.
Week 5 presents an obvious starting point: Detroit Lions @ Arizona Cardinals. With a total sitting around 54.5 points, this game offers several attractive stacking combinations from both teams. Detroit's explosive offense meets an Arizona defence that has conceded at least 31 points in three consecutive games, while the Lions have struggled defensively themselves. That creates the potential for both quarterbacks to deliver significant fantasy production.
Beyond that matchup, Houston @ Tennessee, Cincinnati @ Miami and Minnesota @ New Orleans provide additional opportunities to construct correlated lineups.
As we've discussed in recent weeks, successful tournament construction isn't simply about selecting nine players with attractive individual projections. It's about identifying how games might unfold and choosing players whose production can benefit from those outcomes.
Let's examine the players and combinations worth targeting in Week 5.

NFL 2026-27 Daily Fantasy Tips: Week 5
Quarterbacks
Jared Goff - $16,950
Jared Goff is one of my favourite quarterback selections this week, primarily because of the outstanding matchup against Arizona. The Cardinals have struggled to contain opposing offenses, allowing more than 31 points in each of their past three games. Last week, they conceded 36 points to the Giants, including three passing touchdowns from Jameis Winston. That should immediately attract our attention given the weapons available to Goff. Detroit's passing offense features Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams and Sam LaPorta, while Jahmyr Gibbs provides another dangerous receiving option out of the backfield. At $16,950, Goff isn't particularly cheap, but we're paying for exposure to one of the highest projected scoring environments of the season. The bigger attraction is the stacking potential. Goff can be paired with St. Brown for a premium combination, or Williams for a more affordable option. LaPorta and Gibbs provide further flexibility, while Trey McBride and Michael Wilson offer excellent bring-back opportunities. If Detroit scores 30+ points, there's every chance Goff will be heavily involved.
Jacoby Brissett - $14,630
Jacoby Brissett offers an equally attractive way to attack this matchup, but at a considerably lower salary. Detroit has been extremely generous to opposing quarterbacks this season, while its secondary has also struggled against wide receivers and tight ends. That makes Arizona's passing offense particularly appealing. Brissett has developed a strong connection with Trey McBride, while Michael Wilson provides another option capable of exploiting Detroit's defensive weaknesses. The Cardinals are underdogs, which is another important consideration. If Detroit establishes an early lead, Arizona could be forced into a pass heavy approach. That's precisely the game script we're looking for when selecting Brissett. There is some risk, particularly with Arizona losing left tackle Paris Johnson Jr. and Detroit possessing an excellent pass rush. However, the potential passing volume and favourable matchup more than justify considering Brissett at $14,630.
QB Strategy
Detroit v Arizona is the obvious game to stack, and both quarterbacks offer viable constructions. The premium option is Goff with St. Brown, Williams or LaPorta, before bringing back McBride or Wilson. Alternatively, Brissett can be paired with Wilson or McBride, with Williams, St. Brown or Gibbs coming back from Detroit. My suggested lineup favours the second approach. Brissett-Wilson provides the Arizona connection, while Jameson Williams offers Detroit exposure without requiring the salary necessary for St. Brown. Outside this game, C.J. Stroud deserves consideration alongside Nico Collins, particularly after Houston's passing offense improved considerably against Dallas last week. Joe Burrow is another stacking option against Miami, although Cincinnati's injury situation makes the selection of his receiving partners particularly important.
Running Backs
Jonathan Taylor - $17,060
Jonathan Taylor has been one of the most reliable touchdown producers in the NFL through the opening month. The Indianapolis running back has already recorded three games with multiple rushing touchdowns, including another two-score performance against Washington last week. Taylor finished that contest with 95 rushing yards and two touchdowns despite facing a difficult Commanders defensive front. His receiving involvement has been limited recently, but his rushing workload and goal-line opportunities continue to provide an excellent fantasy foundation. Indianapolis now travels to Pittsburgh, where the Steelers have allowed the ninth-most fantasy points to opposing running backs this season. At $17,060, Taylor isn't cheap, but his combination of volume and touchdown potential makes him an attractive premium selection. Importantly, he doesn't need to be included in a game stack. Taylor can operate as the primary standalone running back in lineups constructed around Detroit v Arizona or other passing combinations.
Chase Brown - $15,760
Chase Brown is another running back worth considering, particularly for anyone looking to attack Cincinnati's matchup against Miami. The Dolphins have struggled considerably this season, creating an appealing opportunity for the Bengals to establish offensive control. Brown's involvement in the passing game also provides additional value, particularly if Cincinnati's injury problems at wide receiver continue. Ja'Marr Chase entered concussion protocol following last week's loss to Jacksonville, while Tee Higgins is dealing with an adductor injury. Those injuries could encourage Cincinnati to involve Brown more frequently as a receiver, providing another avenue for fantasy production. Brown is also an interesting stacking partner for Joe Burrow. Although quarterback-running back combinations aren't always ideal, Brown's receiving involvement creates opportunities for both players to benefit from the same scoring plays. At $15,760, Brown offers an attractive alternative to Taylor, particularly in lineups where we're anticipating Cincinnati scoring heavily.
Aaron Jones - $12,580
Aaron Jones provides a more affordable option as Minnesota travels to New Orleans. The Saints were comprehensively beaten by Atlanta last week, conceding 45 points in a game that highlighted significant defensive problems. Minnesota's offense hasn't consistently delivered this season, but the matchup presents an opportunity for improvement. Jones offers a combination of rushing and receiving involvement that makes him particularly interesting at $12,580. His ability to contribute through the air also creates the possibility of pairing him with T.J. Hockenson in a Minnesota mini stack. This isn't necessarily a game I'm looking to build an entire lineup around. However, Jones and Hockenson offer reasonably priced exposure to an offense facing a vulnerable defence. If Minnesota establishes control, Jones could benefit from additional rushing opportunities, while Hockenson provides access to the passing game.
RB Strategy
Taylor is my preferred premium standalone selection, while Brown offers an opportunity to attack Cincinnati's favourable matchup. Jones provides the cheaper alternative and works particularly well alongside Hockenson. However, the suggested lineup takes a different approach at RB2. Tony Pollard at $8,210 is primarily a salary-saving selection, but there are several reasons he could outperform that modest price. Tyjae Spears continues to deal with an ankle injury, which has reduced his involvement and increased Pollard's opportunities in the passing game. Pollard has received four targets in each of his past two games. There has also been speculation surrounding a potential trade. While it's impossible to know whether Tennessee will deliberately showcase Pollard, increased involvement over the coming weeks could only improve his value. The final consideration is lineup correlation. Pollard provides an inexpensive Tennessee bring-back against Nico Collins, allowing us to gain exposure to both sides of that matchup without spending heavily.
Wide Receivers
Michael Wilson - $14,400
Michael Wilson is one of my favourite wide receiver selections this week, particularly when paired with Jacoby Brissett. Detroit's defence has struggled badly against opposing passing attacks, allowing the second-most fantasy points to wide receivers through four weeks. That creates an excellent opportunity for Wilson, particularly if Arizona is forced to chase points. At $14,400, Wilson is considerably cheaper than several premium receivers on the slate, but he offers exposure to the same attractive game environment. Trey McBride will understandably attract plenty of attention, given Detroit's struggles against tight ends. However, Wilson provides another avenue into Arizona's passing offense. He's particularly appealing in lineups featuring Brissett. If Arizona is forced into a pass-heavy game script, Wilson should have opportunities to generate the receiving production required to justify his salary. Adding Jameson Williams or another Detroit player as a bring-back creates one of my favourite Week 5 combinations.
Nico Collins - $14,940
Nico Collins returned from injury last week, and Houston's passing offense immediately looked considerably more dangerous. C.J. Stroud threw for 347 yards and two touchdowns against Dallas, helping the Texans score 30 points in a narrow defeat. That performance was particularly encouraging after Houston struggled offensively during Collins' absence. The Texans now travel to Tennessee for an AFC South divisional matchup between two winless teams. While this game doesn't carry anything approaching the total of Detroit-Arizona, Houston's improved passing offense creates an interesting opportunity. At $14,940, Collins is reasonably priced for a receiver with his potential to produce big plays and command significant targets. He can be selected independently, but the preferred construction involves pairing him with Stroud. For those looking to build a complete game stack, rookie Tennessee receiver Carnell Tate provides an interesting bring-back option following his encouraging performance against Baltimore last week.
Jameson Williams - $10,580
Jameson Williams is arguably one of the most important selections in my Week 5 roster construction. At only $10,580, he provides inexpensive exposure to Detroit's explosive offense and the highest-total game on the slate. Williams is coming off another encouraging performance against Carolina, and his ability to produce explosive gains makes him particularly attractive in tournaments. He doesn't necessarily need double-digit receptions to produce a significant fantasy score. A handful of catches, including one long touchdown, could be enough to justify his salary. That ceiling becomes particularly interesting against an Arizona defence that has struggled to prevent opposing offenses from moving the football. Williams can be paired directly with Jared Goff, but I also like him as a bring-back in Arizona-focused stacks. That's how he features in my suggested lineup. Brissett and Wilson provide the primary correlation, while Williams benefits if Detroit's offence performs as expected and forces Arizona to respond.
WR Strategy
The two obvious games to attack are Detroit-Arizona and Houston-Tennessee. Wilson and Williams provide relatively affordable exposure to the former, while Collins is the preferred Houston receiver. Cincinnati also deserves consideration. A Burrow-Chase stack would ordinarily be extremely appealing against Miami, but Chase's concussion and Higgins' adductor injury need monitoring. Depending on availability, cheaper Bengals receivers or Mike Gesicki could become attractive alternatives. The key is avoiding the temptation to simply select every receiver with a favourable matchup. I'd rather build combinations that benefit from the same game environment, particularly when those combinations provide enough salary flexibility to retain premium players elsewhere.
Tight Ends
Trey McBride - $16,230
Trey McBride is expensive, but there's an excellent argument that he's one of the strongest individual plays on the slate. Detroit has allowed more fantasy points to opposing tight ends than any other team through four weeks. That's an outstanding matchup for a player who remains central to Arizona's passing offense. McBride's relationship with Jacoby Brissett is particularly important. Brissett regularly looks towards his tight end in the short and intermediate passing game, which could become even more significant against Detroit's aggressive defensive front. At $16,230, McBride requires a substantial fantasy score to justify the investment. However, his combination of target potential and matchup makes that entirely achievable. He's also an obvious stacking partner for Brissett, with Detroit players providing the bring-back. The biggest challenge is salary allocation. Paying for McBride makes it considerably harder to accommodate multiple premium receivers or running backs.
T.J. Hockenson - $8,840
T.J. Hockenson is the more affordable alternative and another player who benefits from an attractive matchup. Minnesota travels to New Orleans following a difficult offensive performance against Miami. Despite the Vikings managing only 15 points last week, Hockenson provided one of their more encouraging individual performances. He remains an important receiving option, particularly while Minnesota manages injuries among its wide receivers. Justin Jefferson is working his way back from an ankle injury, while Jordan Addison has also been dealing with a hamstring problem. Those circumstances could increase Hockenson's importance against New Orleans. At $8,840, he provides significant salary relief compared with McBride. He can also be paired with Aaron Jones, giving us a relatively inexpensive Minnesota mini stack without committing heavily to the game.
TE Strategy
McBride offers the stronger individual matchup and is my preferred premium option. However, Hockenson provides considerably more flexibility. The $7,390 saving between the two can make an enormous difference when attempting to construct Detroit-Arizona stacks. In lineups featuring Brissett and Wilson, McBride provides an opportunity to double down on Arizona's passing game. But if we're already heavily invested in that matchup, Hockenson allows us to diversify while retaining exposure to another favourable situation. For the suggested lineup, Hockenson is the preferred option.
Defence / Special Teams
Houston Texans - $7,110
Houston is my preferred premium defensive selection this week. The Texans travel to Tennessee to face an offense that has struggled through the opening month. Cam Ward has shown flashes of improvement, including a season-high 222 passing yards against Baltimore last week, but the Titans remain a young offense prone to inconsistency. Houston's defensive front has the ability to generate pressure, and a divisional matchup against an inexperienced quarterback creates opportunities for sacks and turnovers. At $7,110, the Texans require a strong performance to justify their salary. However, the matchup provides a legitimate opportunity for them to finish among the highest-scoring defences on the slate.
Seattle Seahawks - $4,700
Seattle is considerably more appealing from a roster-construction perspective. The Seahawks host San Francisco in an NFC West divisional matchup, and their defensive performances through four weeks have been outstanding. Seattle ranks among the league's best teams in pressure rate, third-down defence and preventing explosive plays. The Seahawks have also allowed only 16.7 points per game while averaging 8.8 fantasy points per contest. San Francisco presents a difficult challenge, but the Seahawks have demonstrated they can contain this offense. Seattle defeated the 49ers twice in January, including a dominant 41-6 playoff victory. At just $4,700, Seattle doesn't need to reproduce that performance. A handful of sacks and a turnover could be enough to make the selection worthwhile.
D/ST Strategy
Houston provides the more favourable individual matchup, but Seattle offers considerably better salary flexibility. The $2,410 difference is significant when we're attempting to fit expensive players from Detroit-Arizona into the same lineup. Defensive scoring remains volatile, and I'm generally comfortable accepting some additional risk at this position if it allows us to improve the offensive ceiling elsewhere. That's precisely why Seattle features in my suggested lineup.
Slate Strategy & Roster Construction
The primary objective this week is straightforward: gain meaningful exposure to Detroit-Arizona without sacrificing the rest of the lineup. There are two obvious approaches. The first involves building around Detroit's offense. Goff can be paired with St. Brown, Williams, LaPorta or Gibbs, before bringing back McBride or Wilson. This construction is attractive because Detroit is favoured to score heavily, but the premium combinations can become expensive. The second approach involves starting with Arizona. Brissett is cheaper than Goff, while Wilson offers relatively affordable receiving exposure. Pairing those two with Jameson Williams provides a three-player game stack for $39,610. That's considerably easier to accommodate than some of the premium Detroit combinations. My suggested lineup uses Brissett-Wilson-Williams as its foundation.
The next consideration is Houston v Tennessee. Stroud and Collins offer an attractive secondary stack, particularly after Houston's passing offense improved last week. Carnell Tate is a possible Tennessee bring-back, but the suggested lineup instead uses Collins with Tony Pollard. Pollard is primarily a salary-saving RB2 selection, although his increased receiving involvement creates additional upside. This combination doesn't require Tennessee to win. It simply benefits if Houston scores enough to force the Titans into a more aggressive offensive approach.
Minnesota provides another possible mini stack through Jones and Hockenson. However, the suggested lineup uses Hockenson independently, allowing us to retain Jonathan Taylor as the premium running back. That brings us to the final two salary-saving selections. Pollard costs just $8,210, while Antonio Williams is available at the minimum $6,000. Williams is undoubtedly a gamble, but there's a clear reason for taking it. Jayden Daniels is expected to return for Washington, while Terry McLaurin and Stefon Diggs are both dealing with hamstring injuries, with Diggs ruled out and McLaurin a game time decision. Williams could see considerably more involvement against the Giants. I'm anticipating somewhere around five or six targets if the injuries create the expected opportunity. At $6,000, we don't need an enormous performance. Williams possesses enough explosiveness to turn one reception into a significant gain or touchdown. There is obviously considerable risk, but that's acceptable for a near-minimum-priced FLX selection.
Seattle D/ST completes the construction at $4,700. The result is a lineup featuring three players from Detroit-Arizona, a Houston-Tennessee mini-correlation, premium standalone production from Taylor, and additional upside through Hockenson. Crucially, the cheaper selections aren't simply there to make the salary cap work. Each has a specific role and a plausible path to outperforming their price.
Final Thoughts
Week 5 presents one of the clearest stacking opportunities we've encountered this season. Detroit-Arizona carries an enormous total, features explosive offensive weapons on both sides and provides several viable combinations at different price points. The challenge isn't identifying that game as an attractive fantasy environment. It's deciding how much exposure we want and which players provide the best balance between salary and upside. Goff offers the premium Detroit-led construction, while Brissett provides a cheaper route through Arizona.
Outside that matchup, Houston's improved passing offense creates opportunities through Stroud and Collins, while Cincinnati and Minnesota provide additional ways to construct correlated lineups. The suggested team attacks Detroit-Arizona through Brissett, Wilson and Williams, with Collins-Pollard providing secondary correlation. Taylor offers premium standalone upside, Hockenson provides affordable tight end exposure, while Antonio Williams and Seattle D/ST create the salary flexibility required to complete the lineup. As always, injuries and final team announcements will be important, particularly for Cincinnati and Washington.
Ultimately, the goal remains the same. Identify the games most likely to produce fantasy points, construct lineups around those outcomes, and find the underpriced players who make everything fit. That's the approach I'm taking into Week 5.
