October 9th 2026, 4:15pm, By: Trent Orwin

Caulfield Racing Tips

The Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival heats up on Saturday with three Group 1 races held on Caulfield Guineas Day. Alongside the three-year-old classic is the Might And Power for the middle-distance horses and the Toorak Handicap for the milers.

Caulfield’s rail is in the true position and the track is currently rated a Good 4 with sunshine predicted for race day.

We take you through each race on the card and bring you all of our best bets for Caulfield below! And if you're keen to have a bet on Saturday and want to try out a new bookie, why not try Unibet?

Caulfield Racing Tips: Saturday, October 10th 2026

Race 1: Beverly Handicap 1700m – 12:15pm AEDT

(6) Veyepee just keeps winning, recording his fourth career win from five starts when capturing a Benchmark 84 Handicap at Mornington by 1.75 lengths. Despite being caught wide without cover, he put them away at the 100m mark. There should be a good tempo throughout, so as long as Blake Shinn can grab some cover from the wide gate, he should prove hard to hold out.

(9) In’kantosstar made it a hat-trick at Caulfield-Heath as he won a Benchmark 70 Handicap by more than a length. From the inside gate, he should be a few pairs back and will look for a run. If he has clear running, he will be dangerous.

(6) Veyepee WIN

$3.00 (2 Units)

Race 2: Thoroughbred Club of Australia Plate 1200m – 12:50pm AEDT

(5) Sequinned is a Godolphin filly for the powerful Chris Waller and James McDonald combination. She won back-to-back races before contesting the Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes, finishing 2.7 lengths behind Bangkok Hottie. The form lines from that race look strong and Sequinned should run well. The wide gate is a bit concerning, but her class should take her a long way.

(9) Fiery Fun has had two career starts, winning the latest by more than 2.3 lengths. She has had a jump out to keep her fitness up and should be primed to run well here.

(5) Sequinned WIN

$3.20 (2 Units)

Race 3: Evergreen Turf Vase 1600m – 1:25pm AEDT

(5) On Display returned in the Group 2 Let’s Elope Stakes when finishing a close-up third. She was three-wide without cover and hit the front before getting run down near the line.  Hopefully she isn’t too far back in the run, ideally finding a cart home to help her chances. She hasn’t won in more than a year but has won at the track and over the mile.

(9) Savitri was simply dominant last time and will be right on the speed from barrier one. She will appreciate 56kg after carrying 62kg in her first two runs as she was down in class.

(5) On Display WIN

$4.20 (1.5 Units)

Race 4: Sportsbet Herbert Power Stakes 2400m – 2:00pm AEDT

(6) Knight’s Choice looks to have shocking numerical form but the gelding had no luck in the Group 3 Naturalism Stakes when held up for runs behind a wall of horses. The 2024 Melbourne Cup winner is still seeking his first win since that famous victory and it could come on Saturday if the Naturalism run is anything to go off. He always takes a few runs to get warm and third-up should help.

(3) Future History draws well and Ben Melham should have him in a striking position on the speed. He was third at Flemington over 1700m before running second in the Group 3 JRA Cup over 2000m. The progression to 2400m won’t bother the gelding. Looks a good price to back too.

Also backing: (3) Future History WIN $7.50 (1 Unit)

(6) Knight’s Choice WIN

$9.00 (1 Unit)

Race 5: HKJC World Pool Northwood Plume Stakes 1200m – 2:35pm AEDT

(7) Bridal Waltz gets set to throw it down again as she takes on Point Barrow in a rematch of the Group 3 How Now Stakes. She led in that race and Point Barrow mowed her down. It looks a similar set up, but I think the tables can be turned with Luke Nolen picking up the ride. With a big head start, Point Barrow will have to be brilliant to win again.

(2) Point Barrow faces the same task of giving Bridal Waltz a big head start and trying to run her down. Of course she may just do that again, but this time around, she may not be able to just sweep around them as effortlessly.

(7) Bridal Waltz WIN

$2.70 (2 Units)

Race 6: Henley Homes Schillaci Stakes 1100m – 3:15pm AEDT

(2) Rey Magnerio finished second in the $5 million Quokka in Perth, chasing home Jigsaw who lines up in the Schillaci Stakes here. The gelding had a nice trial behind Bossy Benita just over a week ago and he should be ready to produce first-up. He has won three from five when starting a campaign. Willie Pike continues to ride him and as long as he can stay within reach, he should finish powerfully.

(1) Jigsaw won all four races last preparation, including the Group 1 William Reid Stakes and The Quokka. He can lead for fun here and off he back of a good trial win, he looks to have strong claims. He seeks an eighth-straight victory in this Group 2 feature.

(2) Rey Magnerio WIN

$4.40 (1 Unit)

Race 7: Sportsbet Might And Power 2000m – 3:50pm AEDT

(6) Sheza Alibi is a superstar and looks to have the Might And Power at her mercy. She was devastating in the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes, winning by just shy of three lengths. If she brings her best and stretches out to 2000m, she simply wins for fun at $1.35.

(1) Birdman captured the Group 1 Underwood Stakes over Cosmic Crusader who has since won the Turnbull Stakes. He will need to improve again or hope Sheza Alibi underperforms to beat the mare.

Race 8: Sportsbet Caulfield Guineas 1600m – 4:30pm AEDT

(2) Warwoven is a three-year-old colt prepared by Bjorn Baker that captured the Group 1 Golden Rose by 3.2 lengths at Rosehill. This will be his first time racing in Victoria, but he looks very hard to beat if he can maintain his current form. If he runs similar to his Golden Rose or even his Run To The Rose victory, he should prove too good in the Caulfield Guineas.

(5) Blind Raise has won both races this preparation, the latest being the Caulfield Guineas Prelude by 2.8 lengths. He can lead from his good gate and looks a huge threat to the NSW visitor.

(2) Warwoven WIN

$2.25 (3 Units)

Race 9: Hyland Race Colours Toorak Handicap 1600m – 5:10pm AEDT

(3) Warnie captured the Group 3 Chautauqua Stakes two runs back before running sixth in the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes. That was a pretty good run as he finished just in behind them and didn’t have a lot of room. Mark Zahra jumps back aboard and he had piloted the gelding in the Chautauqua victory. In a very difficult Toorak Handicap, Warnie looks worthy of a small play at double figures.

(2) Lady Shenandoah is very consistent, although she hasn’t been able to win since March 2025. She should run another honest race and it won’t be a shock if she does break through finally.

(3) Warnie E/W

$11/$3.60 (0.5U/1.5U)

Race 10: Nationwide Weekend Hussler Stakes 1400m – 5:45pm AEDT

(12) Harry’s Yacht has finished fifth and fourth in two runs this prep, the latest being in the Listed Testa Rossa Stakes. The last race looks a complete raffle though, so I would prefer to stay away. A case can be made for at least half the field here and the market reflects that with $6 equal favourites in Persian Spirit and Steparty.
