Jacob Fearnley vs Ugo Humbert Betting Tips
French Open Second Round (Approx. Friday 12am AEST)
This shapes as one of the more fascinating clashes for round 2 of the tournament, as Jacob Fearnley looks to back up his strong win over Stan Wawrinka and the crowd as he faces French world number 21 Ugo Humbert.
Fearnley has put together a very solid 12 months of tennis, which has involved playing some big matches in big occasions. Some of the matches and environments he has found himself in will hold him in reasonable shape here, including Fognini the other week in Rome, Nick Kyrgios at the Australian Open, and Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon. That being said, clay certainly isn’t his strongest surface, and I do wonder if some of his recent performances have been a little overrated by the market.
Ugo Humbert will have the crowd at his back, and I was a little more assured by his performance in round 1 after an injury interrupted season. I think with him now back to a level that closely resembled his best, he is certainly the better player in this match-up on clay by my estimation. His points won on second serve was above 60% against O’Connell which is a really solid number, and I think goes to show that statistically it may be the Fearnley second serve that is vulnerable here.
