The 2026 AFL home and away season concludes this weekend with Round 24. While we now know the 10 teams that will advance to the next stage of the competition, there is still some sorting out that needs doing for some of the top 4 and top 6 contenders. Action kicks off on Thursday night with a dead rubber between the Saints and the Suns, but is followed by a blockbuster at the MCG on Friday night as the Magpies and Lions lock horns. Super Saturday features a four-match slate, and Sunday delivers us a triple-header with a couple of interesting storylines at play.

Sandown hosts Saturday Racing on The Valleys behalf this week and its a nice program too with a healthy nine race card. The Carlyon Stakes over 1000m is a good race (Group 3) and the in-form Calvary Girl is the favourite for Tom Dabernig.
Royal Randwick hosts a 10 Race card with the first Group 1 of the season kicking off in Race 9 (Winx Stakes). Punters get to see the almighty clash of AUTUMN GLOW v SHEZA ALIBI for the first time in this 1400m affair.

The final match of the AFL home and away season takes place in Perth with West Coast hosting Hawthorn. The Hawks will be chasing a triple-figure winning margin to jump into third spot on the ladder, which is a huge ask but certainly not out of the realm of possibility.
The second match on our Sunday slate is certainly an interesting one as the Swans host the Kangaroos at the SCG. There have been some wild fluctuations in the betting odds for this match for obvious reasons, so let’s try and find where the value lies.
Essendon and Port Adelaide will have an opportunity to end their season with a rare victory when they meet at Marvel Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Can an undermanned Power side pick up win number seven for the season? Or will the Bombers avoid the wooden spoon with an upset victory?

The final match on Super Saturday for AFL Round 24 is an important one for Adelaide as they play host the GWS at Adelaide Oval. The Crows are currently in a log-jam for spot in the top 7 and need to tick off a win here to keep their top 6 chances alive!
Round 2 of the 2026 AFLW season takes place this weekend with four matches on Saturday and five on Sunday. It was business as usual for North Melbourne in Round 1, but they’ll face a genuine test in the marquee fixture of Round 2 against the Lions.
The third match on Super Saturday for AFL Round 24 will see Geelong take on Richmond in what could be the most one-sided contest of the round. The Cats have it all to play for while the Tigers are simply playing for pride in what’s their final match of the season.
Second up on Super Saturday for AFL Round 24 we have a clash between the Demons and the Bulldogs at the MCG. The Demons need a win to stay inside the top 6 and potentially move into the top 4!

AFL Round 24 continues on Friday night with a clash at the MCG between Collingwood and Brisbane. It’s a must-win match for the Lions who will be hoping to secure third spot on the ladder and take on the Swans in the first week of finals.
