Horse Racing Tips: Thursday, May 21st

Hawkesbury Race 1 - (Market)

The first of the day looks a race of only a few chances. (1) Alakhan placed at start two before going to the paddock, he trialed five times before resuming over a mile at Kembla but was very one paced and happy to be against. (10) Send Me Wild produced some good sectionals on debut and ran on well, she was at Kembla again at start two and again ran on hard with the best last furlong sectional of the race. She goes from 1400m to 1800m which is a little concern, the way she has run through the line though she looks suited. Don’t have her going around a loser. (4) Sacred Suite is the one, a Waller runner having his third start with the in-]form Kathy O’hara riding. He over-raced two back before making ground in a race where it was beneficial to be on the speed and then was again at Newcastle over a mile and ran on hard from a mile back to only be beaten a couple of lengths. Out in trip and fourth-up, he should be hitting the line hard. Play around those two and you should be in front to start the day.

(4) Sacred Suite

$3.70

Hawkesbury Race 2 - (Market)

Sticking with Waller in race two, (4) April Thunder has had three career starts and is second-up today. She resumed at Canterbury over 1250m two weeks ago in a harder maiden than this, after settling mid-field on the fence, she ran up behind the leaders and was looking for a run. She got out at the furlong and stuck on well to be beaten a couple of lengths. The horse that ran third in that race came out and brained them in a Kembla maiden earlier this week, I love these Waller types second-up that look a little one-paced fresh.

(4) April Thunder

$3.70

Wagga Race 1 - (Market)

A lot has been made about the consistent failure of “Yulong” horses of late, happy to be right against that social media theory and back (1) Yulong Power first-up for the Mitchell Beer yard since switching from the Snowden’s. He showed some talent last prep at his first two starts then was beaten out of sight by none other than the current Melbourne Cup favourite Russian Camelot before going to the paddock. He has switched stables and trialed really well against better horses than these, after getting the big chop and being gelded, I expect that he will be well backed and start in the red.

(1) Yulong Power

$2.00

Pakenham Synthetic Race 4 - (Market)

(6) Space Cowboy placed at both runs last campaign, he showed his versatility being able to run on from mid-field and then sticking on well after doing it tough sitting outside the leader. He was off the scene for 17 weeks, resumed on a heavy track at Ballarat 11 days ago. He was last in eth run before fanning very wide, he stuck on only fairly and clearly didn’t handle the conditions. He comes here second-up which was his best run last campaign, back off the bog track and on to the synthetic should suit. There doesn’t appear to be a great deal of speed in the race, hopefully they ride him positively out of the gate and get straight on the bunny. He looks a great each-way bet at the double figure odds.

(6) Space Cowboy E/W

$10
