Gloucester Park Race 4 – 8:50pm AEST
A small field of seven runners but there is no doubting the quality in this race which sees (1) Campora and (3) Chiaroscuro battling for the early lead. Chiaroscuro should go close to crossing Campora and he becomes the horse to beat if he can find the front. A winner three starts ago, Chiaroscuro defeated Mighty Flying Deal and Herrick Roosevelt. His past two have been okay, but the key is trying to lead; if he doesn’t, then he will face a tough task against an in-form field.

Wagin Race 1 – 8:33pm AEST
Not an easy race to kick off the Wagin program which is WA’s secondary meeting on Friday night. Two 3YOs do interest me despite barriers nine and 10 respectively. (9) Stop The Watch is a 2:01.0 Bridgetown 2190m winner before racing against his own age group. Those races were much stronger and on ability, he is a leading chance in this race. (10) Watch Me React was runner up in the Bridgetown event before also taking on some of the state’s best 3YOs. He was clearly outclassed and should run a big race fresh. Backing both Stop The Watch and Watch Me React.

Wagin Race 6 – 11:10pm AEST
There is no disputing that (9) Must Be Nice is racing in terrific form but I couldn’t steer anyone into him at $1.75 from the outside of the back row. Prefer to back two rivals off the front line in the form of (2) Scoobys Delight who should lead and (3) Miss Stonebridge who is one of the best closers in the race. We get to put our eggs in two baskets with this play. If they crawl, then Scoobys Delight should run a strong race and if the tempo is genuine then Miss Stonebridge comes into play. Both horses look over the odds in the race.

Wagin Race 8 – 12:05am AEST
Start 49 for (1) Dwayne who looks to break the maiden tag after 21 minor placings and he won’t get a better chance than having barrier one over 1776m. He has been placed at his last six starts with an average beaten margin of just 2.66m. He will be trying to lead for trainer-driver Joe Suvaljko and it would be one of the highlights of the year if this prolific maiden could finally break through for a win. (6) Lady Valentino and (7) Unwritten Rule are the dangers in the race.
