We head to Gold Coast this Saturday for a very stong nine race card. With just a week to go until Magic Millions Day, the quality of racing up here is top class. Today’s program is highlighted by the Aquis Gold Pearl as well as Magic Millions Rising Stars series which will see many horses chasing the extra prize money to scrape into the big race next week. We’ll get to see Chris Waller’s exciting 3yo filly Olentia step out to make it three in a row with many tipping her a winning chance in the feature race next week.

Gold Coast Racing Tips: Saturday January 7th
Race 1
Very keen on (5) Bel Air to get us started on the right foot in the first. He’s finished 2nd on three occasions now and looks extremely well placed coming north to break his maiden. He looked super at a recent trial, trucking through the line under a hold. His form just looks far superior to many of these and maps for every favour with Melham coming up to ride.
(2) Windshadow has started well in the market at two runs to date so far down in Sydney. Finished a very narrow 3rd on debut before an even closer 2nd at last start. Looks set to peak for this 3rd up now and has to be over the odds looking at his SP profile?
(12) Avebury resumes for the O’Shea yard and has McDonald booked to ride. Sure to be popular with punters but I only thought his debut prep was just fair. Been trialling well so he is sure to improve this prep.
(10) Sha Of Gomer started favourite first up and was only beaten by Olentia, who has since won again and firmed as a serious Magic Millions chance. He will be fitter now and looks another key winning hope.
(5) Bel Air

Race 3
(12) Just Glamorous started favourite on debut and was very good, finishing hard to run a close 3rd. With natural improvement and rising slightly in trip I think she looks a strong winning chance. She’s bred to be a talent and I think she can stamp herself as a promising 2yo here today.
(4) Excel D’or finished 2nd in a strong form race behind The Novellist. 3rd up now she can keep building towards a maiden win. She looks to get the lead here from the wide draw and will take some running down.
(9) Tracey’s Spirit will have to improve a couple of lengths but really liked the way she won at her 2nd start at the Sunny Coast. She rises slightly in trip now and maps for a nice run just off the leader’s back.
(8) She’s A Rogue bolted in to break maiden status last time out and looks set to go on with it now. That was off the back of a super impressive bit of trial work and I think she has come back in top order.

Race 6
All eyes will be on smart filly (9) Olentia here as she looks to make it three wins on the bounce. Her two starts to date have been dominant, and she has been running smart time in the process. The stable no doubt have their sights set on the Magic Millions next week and she will need to win here to boost her prize money and have any chance of making the field. I think she can take care of these today from the gun draw and looks a chance of winning again next week!
Back to 1300m looks a positive for (13) Latakia who demolished them on debut before finding the 1400m a step to far last start. Craig Williams takes over and I think this horse can give this a good shake on her best form. We are yet to see the ceiling for her.
(3) Coco Rox has been below her best this prep but she was well-backed last start at Eagle Farm. There were excuses there but she draws low today and can land in a nice forward position. If she can regin some of her better form then I think she can win.
(2) Bella Rouge will be getting back and charging late and there looks to be a genuine tempo for her to sit back and enjoy. McDonald will have to weave his magic from gate one but she’s matched it with some smart Sydney horses across her career and is right up to these.
(9) Olentia

Race 9
(7) Indispensable has come back in career best form and looks to get the right sort of set up here 3rd up. He’s won three from four when third up and is a two-time winner over this trip. He’ll get back from the barrier but I think there’s enough speed up top to suit and looks a decent enough price to find out.
(9) Rock Amore looked good winning fresh and will be even better suited rising in trip now. Can mix his form but is good enough to win this.
(4) Wairere Falls hit the line well first up when running 6th and should strip fitter for that. I think he’s well found in the market with McDonald to ride and is yet to win 2nd up from four attempts.
(2) Sir Rocket draws low and gets an apprentice claim. He can land up on speed and should be hard fit and tough to catch.
