The Moshal Family’s New Venture: EpicOdds
In a bold expansion move, Andrew Moshal - cousin of billionaire philanthropist Martin Moshal - is preparing to launch a new online betting platform in Australia called EpicOdds. The operation, running under Vuka Global Pty Ltd, names Andrew as its sole director and anticipates going live later this year, pending final regulatory clearance from the Northern Territory Racing Commission.
A Powerful Lineage Behind the Scenes
This venture ties Andrew Moshal to one of the most discreet yet influential families in the gambling industry. His cousin Martin Moshal rose to wealth by developing software for the world’s earliest online casinos. Now based in Sydney, Martin is a notable philanthropist and major donor - his reach extending to institutions like Moriah College alongside other prominent figures such as the Lowy family and Harry Triguboff.
Martin’s investment empire now spans Super Group, the parent company of UK gambling giant Betway, through his vehicle Knutsson Limited - estimated to represent a staggering US$4 billion stake. Betway boasts high-profile sponsorships across sports, from West Ham United and Arsenal in football to South Africa’s national cricket team.
Meanwhile, Andrew’s experience isn’t limited to this new venture. He has past ties to Betway and previously held a senior marketing role at Osiris Trading, a digital marketing firm affiliated with Super Group.
While filings for EpicOdds were lodged, it was clarified that Martin Moshal has no financial involvement with this new venture.
The Moshal family’s influence extends beyond betting. In 2018, Martin backed Prospa - co-founded by another cousin, Greg Moshal - which raised AU$110 million through its IPO before being taken private at a much reduced value.
EpicOdds Faces a High-Stakes Market
The Australian betting arena is no small pond. Industry titans like Sportsbet, Entain (Ladbrokes), Bet365, PointsBet, and Betr are already engaged in fierce competition, and ongoing sector consolidation is well underway - as evident in the takeover attempts of PointsBet by Japan’s Mixi and counter-efforts from Betr.
We’re excited to see EpicOdds enter the Australian sports betting landscape and no doubt, with the Moshal family’s backing, they will make an enormous splash in the industry.
