First of all, even at $4.50, let’s write off Joel Corey. He’s a great player and does sometimes have a big game where he scored over 100 Dream Team (DT) points, but just not often enough to both in a group such as this.
We are actually also going to write off Tom Mitchell at those short odds of $2.65. Even though he is a superstar in the making and has put up some very big DT scores in his debut year, he just hasn’t proven to be consistent enough to bother with. In fact, in three of his last four games Mitchell has scored under 75 DT points.
Halfway through the season Daniel Hannebury would have been the value pick in this group, but the highest he has scored in the last five weeks is 76 DT points. Hannebury can definitely put up some big scores, but just hasn’t been consistent as more and more teams are giving him a lot more attention in the tagging department.
So that leaves us with Jimmy Bartel. While he hasn’t been as lucrative a Dream Team option in the second half of the year, he is coming off a 111 DT scoring game last week. Some will look at his 66 DT points he scored against Sydney back in round 4 of this year, but if you look over the last few years, Sydney has actually been one of Bartel’s best opponents DT wise, averaging a high 94.33 DT points over 15 games. Bartel shows enough value here to get on him.
