Luke Hodge has been on fire of late and considering he had a massive game against Collingwood back in round 2 this year, scoring 135 Dream Team (DT) points, it’s no surprise he is the favourite of this group. In saying that though, he is nowhere near as consistent as Sam Mitchell and arguably Mitchell should always be the favourite of this sort of group, but we will get to that soon. Hodge has averaged 90.76 DT points on the year.
Jordan Lewis is certainly a chance in this group as he has been very solid over the last five rounds, scoring over 100 DT points on four occasions. Like Hodge however, Lewis isn’t as consistent as Mitchell. Lewis has averaged 90.68 DT points on the year.
Isaac Smith has been in good form, but isn’t worth looking at in this group as we wouldn’t expect him to win here more than one time in every ten.
Sam Mitchell is coming off a bad game against the Saints last week where he only scored 77 DT points, but in the two weeks prior to that Mitchell scored 111 on both occasions (against Richmond and Essendon). Mitchell also had a solid game against the Pies back in round 2, scoring 98 DT points. Mitchell has a great long term record against the Pies as well, averaging a hugely consistent 104 DT points over 14 games. Hodge also has a high lifetime average against the Pies, but we think the extra 25 cents and Mitchell’s consistency should be enough to get him over the line.
