Australian Open Day 2 Betting Tips
Jaume Munar vs Dalibor Svrcina
Approx 4pm AEDST January 19
This one shapes as a bit of an interesting one on day two of the Australian Open, as Jaume Munar takes on Dalibor Svrcina in a match-up that may have its fair share of decent rallies.
Jaume Munar was able to make his way into the world's top 40 in 2025 thanks largely to his improved game across surfaces. The Spaniard has shown he is certainly capable on the hard court with a flurry of wins and respectable losses across the course of the last 12 months. He comes in here off a quarterfinal appearance in Adelaide last week, and presents now as a player who nobody will want to face over the best-of-five set format off the back of his dogged play and determination.
This matchup also looks very different to the pair’s previous meeting in Melbourne three years ago, when Svrcina caused an upset with a straight-sets win. A lot has changed since then. Munar is a far more complete player now, both tactically and physically, while Svrcina is still finding his way at ATP level.
Although my preference in backing Munar is generally associated with there being a decent amount of pace coming from the other end of the court, I am just not sure I see enough of an edge here in any category for Svrcina to be competitive. He finished 2025 with losses to Tomic and Fearnley, before losing comfortably to Hamad Medjedovic in Auckland qualifying. With Munar's court coverage, it is hard to see a way through for Svrcina consistently. Medjedovic has shown the way, winning 23/46 points on return in Auckland, and with his serve the way it is, I see Munar being able to consistently pressure the Svrcina serve in these conditions.
Given the conditions, the longer format, and the current form of both players, it is hard to see Svrcina finding a way to consistently match Munar’s level.
