Australian Open 2026: Carlos Alcaraz vs Alex de Minaur Betting Tips

Australian Open: Carlos Alcaraz vs Alex de Minaur Betting Tips

One of the headline acts of the Australian Open men’s quarter-finals sees world No.1 Carlos Alcaraz take on Australia’s great hope Alex de Minaur, with a maiden semi-final appearance at Melbourne Park on the line for both. It’s box office stuff: elite athleticism, pace for days, and a clash of styles that has delivered every time they’ve met.

Australian Open: Carlos Alcaraz vs Alex de Minaur Betting Tips

Tuesday, January 27th, 09:15pm AEDST

H2H Odds: Alcaraz $1.24 vs di Manaur $4.00
Total Games Line: 35.5

Carlos Alcaraz

R1: dft. Adam Walton 6-3 7-6 6-2
R2: dft. Yannick Hanfmann 7-6 6-3 6-2
R3 dft. Corentin Moutet 6-2 6-4 6-1
R16: dft. Tommy Paul 7-6 6-4 7-5

Alcaraz has been unflappable throughout this tournament. Even a lengthy first-set delay in his round-of-16 clash with Tommy Paul failed to disrupt his rhythm, as he calmly navigated another tiebreak before pulling away in straight sets. He’s yet to drop a set all tournament, backing up elite baseline pressure with tidy serving numbers, 70% of first serves won, 68% on second serve, and not a single double fault against Paul.

The one minor historical knock? Melbourne quarter-finals haven’t always been kind to him, having dropped six of his last eight sets at this stage here, including last year’s four-set loss to Novak Djokovic. Still, zoom out and the trend is scary: Alcaraz has won his last three Grand Slam quarter-finals in straight sets and arrives in ominous hard-court form after lifting the US Open last summer.

Alex de Minaur

R1: dft. Mackenzie Donals 6-2 6-2 6-3
R2: dft. Hamad Medjedovic 6-7 6-2 6-2 6-1
R3 dft. Frances Tiafoe 6-3 6-4 7-5
R16: dft. Alexander Bulbik 6-4 6-1 6-1

De Minaur, meanwhile, is riding a wave of confidence and crowd energy. He dismantled Alexander Bublik in the fourth round, winning nearly half of his return points and suffocating rallies with trademark speed and discipline. His serving has quietly been elite, 81% of first serves won and 72% on second serve against Bublik, while his error count has been laughably low, just 10 unforced errors in that match.

This is his second straight Australian Open quarter-final, and the stakes are enormous. A win would make him the first Aussie man to reach the semis here since Lleyton Hewitt in 2005, and he looks far more composed and physically imposing than in previous years. Expect him to make Alcaraz earn absolutely everything.

Prediction

De Minaur is playing the tennis of his life and will have Melbourne roaring, but history, and match-up dynamics, still lean Alcaraz’s way. The Aussie’s speed will extend rallies and push this deeper than the odds suggest, yet Alcaraz’s ability to raise his level in big moments remains the difference. Alcaraz to win, but over 3.5 sets holds decent value.
