Australia Gold Medals
The only realistic challenge to Australia in the Total Gold Medals market is England, but even then, it’s tough to see them actually knocking off the Aussies. Instead, I like the look of the overs in the Australia over/under, which looks to be a few medals too low. The Aussies dominated the most recent Games in Gold Coast when winning 80 Gold Medals, which was the fifth time in the last seven editions that they’ve had 80+. Only once since the 1990 Games in Auckland have the Aussies gone under the current line of 68.5, and that was at Glasgow in 2014. Australia has the depth in talent to have another hugely successful Games in Birmingham and look a great bet to hit the overs in this market.
Netball
Australia suffered heartbreak in the Netball at the 2018 Games on home soil, going down in the Gold Medal match to England by a single point. It was a big upset at the time and one that will be sure to spur on the Diamonds in Birmingham. The Aussies are currently ranked #1 in the world and are the only nation along with New Zealand to top the rankings since its introduction in 2009. The Diamonds defeated England by 12 points to take out the Quad Series Final earlier this year and look to be the most well-placed nation to take out the Gold at the upcoming Games.

Men’s 3v3 Basketball
The slimmed down 3v3 format of basketball is a new event at the Commonwealth Games, but it’s been around for a while on the world stage and featured at the most recent Olympics. The Australian men’s team had the perfect lead up to Birmingham having recently won the Asia Cup where they finished undefeated. The Aussies will have the strongest squad on paper at the Games and two of the best players in Jesse Wagstaff and Daniel Johnson. The Aussies are the deserving favourites to win Gold and should be a lot shorter odds to do just that.

Women’s Beach Volleyball
12 nations will compete in the Women’s Beach Volleyball in Birmingham, but only two have a legitimate chance of winning the Gold Medal – Canada’s pairing of Sarah Pavan and Melissa Humana-Paredas, as well as Australia’s pairing of Taliqua Clancy and Mariafe Artacho. The Canadians are currently ranked #4 in the world but haven’t had the best form in the leadup, while the Aussies are ranked #12 and won their most recent tournament in Portugal. These teams have met four times in the past and the H2H is locked at two wins apiece, although the Aussies have been victorious in the ones that count the most. They defeated Pavan/Humana-Paredes in the 2018 World Tour Finals and the Olympic Games in 2021 where they met in the quarterfinals. These big wins, as well as recent results, will give the Aussie pairing a lot of confidence to go all the way in Birmingham.
