2016-17 NBL: Round 19 Preview & Betting Tips

February 9th 2017, 11:06am, By: SidneyMatthews

The NBL finals are just around the corner, but first there are some all-important games to play out, so don't miss our 2016-17 NBL Round 19 betting tips. First game onstarting on Thursday night!

NBL Round 19 Betting Tips

Cairns Taipans Vs Adelaide 36ers (Thursday, February 9th at 7:30pm AEDT)

Cairns went 1-1 last weekend during their NBL double. They were first out-classed by the Illawarra Hawks on Friday, losing by 17 points (73-90). On Sunday afternoon, however, they score victory over the Wildcats 85-77. Mitch McCarron was a rebounding machine against the Wildcats, picking up ten during the game - 3 offensive and 7 defensive. Tony Mitchell also put on a show, elevating his output with 20 points, 2 boards and 1 assist.

Despite going down to the Breakers last weekend in a nail biting 88-87 finish, Adelaide have locked up their finals spot and the minor premiership. This makes us think they'll be resting some of their best players. Randle and Sobey have both earned a rest, while Daniel Johnson and Mitch Creek could play limited minutes

We’re going to go with the Taipans in this one. With a likely undermanned 36ers taking the court, the Taipans should be able to get the win and keep their season alive.

Tip: Cairns Taipans to win - $2.05 at CrownBet

Perth Wildcats Vs Sydney Kings (Friday, February 10th at 9:30pm AEDT)

The Perth Wildcats are the most successful team in the NBL, but have struggled during periods of the 2016-17 NBL season. They were hit with injuries early and it looked like their season was over at the midway point. Well, haven't they managed to turn that around. Since the return of Damian Martin, and the inclusion of Import Bryce Cotton, the Wildcats have turned the league on its head. They currently sit in 4th and they can easily jump to 2nd before the end of the weekend.

Sydney, on the other hand, seemed like they had the season locked up early, then they dipped and now they are fighting just to make the playoffs. They will struggle to do that If they play anything like they did against Melbourne last weekend during their 89-76 loss.

Perth at home are always a challenge. We’re sticking with history on this one and we expect the Wildcats to pounce on the Kings.

Tip: Perth Wildcats at the line (-5.5) - $1.85 at CrownBet

Illawarra Hawks Vs Brisbane Bullets (Saturday, February 11th at 5:30pm AEDT)

We picked the Hawks to win the NBL championship at the beginning of the season and sure there have been moments throughout the season where we've considered cashing out our stakes. But aren't we glad we didn't now.

The Bullets season is over and it's not going to get any better in NBL Round 19. The fairytale return to the NBL with instant success just isn't going to happen for them. The Hawks should get an easy win here.

Tip: Illawarra Hawks at the line (-7.5) - $1.89 at CrownBet

Melbourne United Vs Perth Wildcats (Sunday, February 12th at 3:00pm AEDT)

Melbourne head into Round 19 on the back of a season-defining double. They had a huge two winning performances and are still in contention. However, they need to keep the momentum going with a win against Perth on Sunday. There’s a new import in Melbourne and his name is Josh Boone. After a couple of slow games, Boone demonstrated his value with a 20 point, 12 rebound performance. Chris Goulding had 18, while Casper Ware managed 16.

Perth should enter this one off the back of a home victory against the Kings. Melbourne will challenge them and the battle between Bryce Cotton and Casper Ware will definitely be worth the watch. Last time these two teams faced off was back in Round 17 in Perth with the Wildcats clenching a 2-point win (73-71). This time around we think it will be a bit of a shoot-out.

Tip: Game Score Over 169.5 - $1.88 at CrownBet
