After an interesting three-match T20I series, Australia and England will switch format and venue as the ODI series begins in Manchester on Friday night (10pm AEST). We preview the three-match ODI series with our cricket betting tips for the series.

It seems like a long time ago now, but it was only last year that England won the 2019 World Cup in their home conditions. They retain the majority of that team for this series, excluding Ben Stokes, who missed the T20 series to attend to a personal matter.
Joe Root, who has been in fine form in the Vitality T20 Blast, will slot right back into the No. 3 position for this ODI series. Jason Roy has also recovered from an injury that forced him to miss the T20s. Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Root, Eoin Morgan and Jos Buttler will constitute England’s explosive top order.
Australia’s fast bowlers regained some of their fluency in the third T20I, particularly Mitchell Starc who swung the ball nicely in his figures of 1 for 20. Pat Cummins will be well rested after he was excluded from the final T20I game. Despite a strong fast bowling core, it’s hard to see Australia keep England’s top order quiet for long periods. Their new method of operation under Eoin Morgan has been to attack from the outset.
That style helped them rack up 481 against Australia in an ODI in Nottingham not too long ago. It’s unlikely that either team will cross the 400 barrier in this series, but England seem too strong on paper not to win at least two matches.
England to win ODI Series

Australia are in a much better place than that previous series, which they lost 5-0. For starters, they have David Warner and Steven Smith back. Aaron Finch has led this team well, including a semi-final finish at the ODI World Cup last year. Warner is coming off a terrific World Cup, in which he racked up 647 runs - the second highest in the tournament and only one run behind Rohit Sharma’s tally of 648. Warner was rested for the final T20I, which was preceded by a half-century in the first game of the tour.
As is often the case in England in the last few years, it could be that facing the new ball might be the best time to bat. The pitch in Manchester can be conducive to spin bowling, with its large square dimensions. That will also help Warner in his bid to lead Australia to a series win.
