Big day of racing in the North this Monday, the 7th of August as the Darwin Turf Club hosts the annual Darwin Cup. We take a look at the whole day's racing and give our betting tips for all nine races below.

Best Bet: Race 2 Moot
Has posted two big wins in his past two starts, in particular last start when he was huge after covering ground the entire trip. Went on to win by over 5 lengths and in a small field he can do so again with the minimal rise in weight. Short odds but hard to see him getting beaten if he repeats his past two efforts.
Best Value: Race 8 Naming Rights
Hasn't won from nine starts at the track but has placed on five occasions. Has placed his last three starts and last run was enormous behind Wicked Promise when coming from well back in the field. Up to 1900m looks to suit. $10 available.
A trip to Hong Kong quickly had Tim hooked to the racing caper, maintaining the best place anywhere in the world on a Wednesday night is Happy Valley. He holds a strong interest in the Hong Kong form, along with the metropolitan racing in Sydney and Melbourne, and his home town of Perth. He’s a fan of dry tracks, Zac Purton and takes particular interest in identifying patterns in the form. Tim wears many hats, juggling the roles of racing form analyst for Before You Bet, jockey manager and racehorse owner.

Sandown hosts Saturday Racing on The Valleys behalf this week and its a nice program too with a healthy nine race card. The Carlyon Stakes over 1000m is a good race (Group 3) and the in-form Calvary Girl is the favourite for Tom Dabernig.
Royal Randwick hosts a 10 Race card with the first Group 1 of the season kicking off in Race 9 (Winx Stakes). Punters get to see the almighty clash of AUTUMN GLOW v SHEZA ALIBI for the first time in this 1400m affair.

The final match of the AFL home and away season takes place in Perth with West Coast hosting Hawthorn. The Hawks will be chasing a triple-figure winning margin to jump into third spot on the ladder, which is a huge ask but certainly not out of the realm of possibility.
The second match on our Sunday slate is certainly an interesting one as the Swans host the Kangaroos at the SCG. There have been some wild fluctuations in the betting odds for this match for obvious reasons, so let’s try and find where the value lies.
Essendon and Port Adelaide will have an opportunity to end their season with a rare victory when they meet at Marvel Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Can an undermanned Power side pick up win number seven for the season? Or will the Bombers avoid the wooden spoon with an upset victory?

Round 2 of the 2026 AFLW season takes place this weekend with four matches on Saturday and five on Sunday. It was business as usual for North Melbourne in Round 1, but they’ll face a genuine test in the marquee fixture of Round 2 against the Lions.
The third match on Super Saturday for AFL Round 24 will see Geelong take on Richmond in what could be the most one-sided contest of the round. The Cats have it all to play for while the Tigers are simply playing for pride in what’s their final match of the season.
