Wednesday’s horse racing will be run across five venues, highlighted by the Group 3 Coongy Handicap run at Caulfield. We are backing an in-form stable in the Coongy, while also targeting races at Rosehill and Ascot. Check out our best bets for the day below and good luck to everyone following along!

Caulfield Racing Tips: Wednesday, October 14th 2026
Race 4: Tobin Brothers Celebrating Lives Handicap 2400m – 3:25pm AEDT
(5) Leonchroi was a dominant winner two starts ago when Blake Shinn rode the five-year-old gelding to win by almost five lengths at Sandown-Hillside. He then headed to Mornington where he was beaten as a $2.40 favourite in the Listed RM Ansett Classic. He didn’t have much luck in that race, held up at crucial stages before finding the line when getting clear running when it was too late. He looks hard to beat if he gets any luck this time around.
(3) Beach Pad finished third in the RM Ansett Classic and his prior fourth placing in the Group 3 Archer Stakes was a solid effort too. He looks to have each-way claims in the race at double figures.
(5) Leonchroi WIN
$2.50 (3 Units)
Race 7: Sportsbet Coongy Handicap 2000m – 5:10pm AEDT
(8) Ziryab is a last-start winner at Mornington over 2000m after racing outside the leader to win by 1.25 lengths. He carried 59kg on that occasion, but rises in class now, which is why he has been allocated 54.5kg, a weight that should be in his favour. He is trained by Ciaron Maher and the stable has been flying lately. Just like last start, Jabez Johnstone should send the gelding forward looking to find a top four position in running.
(6) Darkbonee comes out of the Group 3 JRA Cup where a number of Coongy rivals raced, with Darkbonee beating all of them home. Another runner that finished behind the gelding is Land Legend who has since come out and won the Group 1 Might And Power, upsetting Sheza Alibi. He looks to have strong claims here.
(8) Ziryab WIN
$5.50 (1.5 Units)
Rosehill Gardens Racing Tips: Wednesday, October 14th 2026
Race 7: Farnan @ Vinery Stud Handicap 1200m – 5:00pm AEDT
(6) Metallic Cat was having her first run back a fortnight ago when finishing a narrow second. She worked hard to cross the field from a wide gate and looked like she might hang on with 100m to run but was nabbed right on the finishing post. She should get an easier lead from gate four and looks hard to beat with a run under her belt.
(7) Nitro is first-up from a spell and he normally runs well when kicking off a campaign. He is fairly consistent in this class and won a trial at Rosehill earlier this month. He will be back in the field and running home strongly.
(6) Metallic Cat WIN
$2.30 (3 Units)
Ascot Racing Tips: Wednesday, October 14th 2026
Race 5: Swick Mining Services Handicap 1400m – 4:15pm (7:15pm AEDT)
(8) Mr Mellon is lightly raced compared to rivals, having faced the start just twice in his career. He led throughout on debut to win a Belmont maiden over 1200m as jockey Paul Harvey sat up on the gelding in the final stages to win by 1.82 lengths. His next run was even better when finishing fourth behind Roger and Swift Ruler in 3YO company. He led again and was swamped late, finishing 1.3 lengths away in fourth place. He should lead again and give them something to catch.
(1) Swift Talker can be forgiven for last start’s effort when pulling up lame. Prior to that, the four-year-old gelding was second in a Westspeed heat won by Bosun. His best form is good enough and the 3kg claim should help his cause.
(8) Mr Mellon WIN
$2.80 (2 Units)
