Horse Racing Tips: Tuesday, August 11th
Ballarat Synthetic Race 1 - (Market)
(6) Classy Pins debuted here on the synthetic track and was solid in the market, SP’ing at $4, around the same quote we can get for her today. She settled behind the speed, angled into the clear before battling on steadily. She did appear to have every chance, the winner was impressive and the second horse over the line has since come out and bolted in at Ballarat late last week. A tough ask to step up in trip at start two, I expect her to be on the speed and that form line from her debut looks good. She should be hard to chase down, bet again early in the run if she finds the top.
Gosford Race 1 - (Market)
It looks a two-horse race on paper between a couple of very promising 3Yo fillies. (5) Orpheum has not placed at her two starts, she has over-raced and come from back I the field, she has hit the line well though on both occasions. (7) Stellar Pauline has placed twice in Black Type juvenile races as well as runner-up in the Magic Millions. They both resume here and come through the same trial at Randwick on the synthetic, both were fairly away as they paired off behind the field. Orpheum worked to the line well between runners, Stellar Pauline had to come wide and was untouched, but also found the line well over the last furlong. A replay of that trial can be found here. The key here for me is the draws and the fact we are at Gosford where being on the speed is such an advantage. Stellar Pauline should be in front of her main rival, I can’t see Orpheum running past her all things being equal.

Gosford Race 3 - (Market)
(12) Olympic Gaze debuted at Newcastle in late June, he was slowly away and settled last over 6 furlongs, worked to the line well enough to beat home almost half of the field in a maiden that has produced three subsequent winners. He then went to Wyong, again was slowly away and settled in the back half. He was held-up approaching the short straight and only got clear late, forget he went around as he should have finished much closer than the 3-length margin. He gets out to the mile for the first time which looks to suit, just needs to get the back of the right horse down the side as you have to be sweeping into it before straightening here at Gosford. Look for him to get over the top late.
