Horse Racing Tips: Thursday, June 11th

Ballarat Synthetic Race 2 - (Market)

As a Richmond fan, this will most certainly be the only time today I will be cheering (1) Bucks to win. The Hayes/Hayes/Dabernig gelding has placed at two of three runs, most importantly his best run to date was here on the synthetic track last time out. He was mid-field in the run before running on hard along the rails to miss by the narrowest of margins, it was a gap job back to third. He clearly handles the track well and that’s a big plus, from the good draw should be able to settle handy and if he can be saved for one run, should be too strong late stepping up to the 1500m.

(3) Bucks

$3.30

Ballarat Synthetic Race 5 - (Market)

(1) Salorsci is having his first go on the synthetic track, he will find this no harder than his last two runs. Two back at Geelong he had every chance after a good run to finish second but was very green. He then went to the Bool over the carnival, sat up outside the speed and kicked for home and was way too good after setting the tempo and doing the work. The third horse out of that race has since come out and bolted in to win when down in grade, then went to Sandown last Wednesday and won again. A 5-week freshen-up between runs shouldn't hurt after three runs back, the wide draw should just see him roll forward, he can win from the breeze or with cover.

(1) Salorsci

$2.80

Gosford Race 1 - (Market)

(1) Miss Spiteful is my best of the day and keen to get involved in any kind of black figures that are on offer. The Gai/Bott trained filly has had two runs back this prep, she resumed on the soft track at the Kenso circuit, was forced to sit three-wide no cover and stuck on well to place. She then stepped up in grade against the girls, again on the inner Randwick track on soft ground. She led but was pressured form the outside throughout, weakened late and was a little flat second-up. From the good middle draw and stepping up to the 6 furlongs, she should be able to assume control. Back on the tighter circuit with a small straight, if she kicks off the bend, they won’t run her down.

(1) Miss Spiteful

$2.00

Gosford Race 4 - (Market)

At the time of writing there are 8 runners here so it is a 3-pace dividend event, even if there is a scratching or two on race morning I think that (1) Tolemac is a great beat on an each-way basis and should run top two. Two starts back he did work here over the track and trip to win after being on the speed, he then went to Newcastle a month ago in a race no easier than this. He was up on the speed but was pressured throughout before weakening badly, he was never going to stick on the way the race was run. A months between runs but has trialed well enough up the road at Wyong, hopefully the y hold the top with him and he should look the winner early in the straight. Not thrilled about the booking of Penza but he was on when he scored two back so I guess.. It is what it is.

(1) Tolemac E/W

$5.50
