Horse Racing Tips: Thursday, July 23rd

Australian Horse Racing Tips Thursday July 23rd

Welcome to our horse racing preview and betting tips for racing on Thursday, July 23rd.

There's five race meetings across the country on Thursday afternoon. Victorian racing heads to Warrnambool, while the main meeting in New South Wales takes place at Kembla Grange. Luke Krahe has previewed both meetings and picked out his best bets below.

Horse Racing Tips: Thursday, July 23rd

Kembla Grange Race 2 - (Market)

(8) Global Queen was given plenty of time before making her debut, she was at the trials four times dating back to November before start one at Canterbury a month ago. She opened favourite and was easy in the betting before a late push for her to SP at $2.70. She settled mid-field, eased wider in the straight and although she was a little wayward in the straight, seemed to have every chance. She looked to handle the heavy track well, has been back to the trials and performed well in the month since that first start. This is a lot easier and she should be right on the speed and finishing best. (5) Honey Go Lightly will have her supporters, happy to be right against her and think she will be a big drifter in the betting. She has had the gun run in her last two starts and hasn’t been able to run them down... LAY LAY LAY!

(8) Global Queen

$2.20

Kembla Grange Race 3 - (Market)

(3) Sweeping Brook made his debut for the Mark Newnham stable here at Kembla two weeks ago in a similar maiden but over the shorter 6 furlongs. He had trialed well enough prior to that and there was money for him late in the betting. He jumped well and found the fence first, stuck on well in the straight but didn’t get the bob of the head when it mattered. He gets the extra 200m here and should be able to land on the bunny, hopefully the apprentice kicks hard into the straight and leaves them behind. (7) Tectonicus is the main rival on the bookie boards at least, he gave away start and was very green in the run home at his latest. Happy to take him on against the older horses today.

(3) Sweeping Brook

$2.70

Warrnambool Race 1 - (Market)

(5) Kick It Baby has been to the races twice and come up one short on both occasions. He debuted at double-figure odds at Ballarat in a harder maiden than this, settled up outside the speed and seemed to hit a flat spot when the leader quickened. Although she was well beaten, she stuck on well enough for second. She then had three weeks between runs and went to Pakenham for her first go on the synthetic, this time she was very well backed and started second favourite. She sat outside the speed again, loomed up to win and stuck on well to be beaten less than a length. She draws the inside in a race that looks no harder, hopefully she can lead and the fence is the place to be.

(5) Kick It Baby

$5.00

Warrnambool Race 7 - (Market)

(7) Toff Choice had been consistent at his first campaign without winning, he resumed at Cranbourne on a soft track and was backed as if there was no settling. His official opening price was $5.50 into a SP of $3.30 and was the top elect at the off. He settled well back in the big field, made a long searching run and came very wide before charging to the front. It really was pleasing to the eye and that money for him shows me he really has come back well. He can take the next step up to this class, rises 100m in trip which certainly shouldn’t be against him. He will get back, look for him late.

(7) Toff Choice E/W

$7.00

Tip: (7) Toff Choice Each-Way $7 @ Sportsbet.
