Welcome to our horse racing preview and betting tips for racing on Friday, May 29th.
We head into the weekend with five Australian meetings on Friday, including nine races at Geelong and eight races at Goulburn. Luke Krahe has picked out his best bets from those two meetings below!
Horse Racing Tips: Friday, May 29th
Geelong Race 1 - (Market)
(11) The Prater is the first emergency, hopefully this is not a waste of time and she gets a start here! The Godolphin filly debuted at Kembla on a heavy track , she didn’t seem to handle the track and after making a run for about a furlong, weakened late. She was sent south and had her second run at Cranbourne two weeks ago. She was once again in the back half before settling mid-field. She was held-up approaching the turn before running on well into a place. She gets her first chance on top of the ground and gets out in trip which looks to suit, I expect her to show a lot more dash.

Geelong Race 3 - (Market)
(3) Redissent showed very little at his first two starts before going to the paddock. He had more than six months off and resumed at Sandown on the heavy track. He was unwanted in the betting in a much harder maiden than this, he was slowly away and got back before working to the line well. He then got out to 1500m last time and again ran on well in tougher grade than this, interestingly both of those runs were on the rain affected track. He comes back on top of the ground and drops a stack in grade, hopefully he settles handy and runs on hard.
Goulburn Race 1 - (Market)
(1) Chewie Two has been to the races four times and been runner-up at the latest three of those. He is having his fifth start at prep number one which is a little concern but no doubt this will be it for him and they would love to send him to the paddock a winner. He placed twice here at the track before going to Hawkesbury last time, he sat up on the speed outside the leader and fought on strongly but just found the winner too good. That was on a soft7 track so he handles the surface and has race good her ein the past. Inside gate, in form jock (Jay Ford rode the first four at Bathurst yesterday) and a weaker maiden, all points to this fellow getting his firt win.
Goulburn Race 2 - (Market)
(5) Mr Cantankerous debuted here three weeks ago on the Soft track, he was drawn out wide and had to do a little bit of work to get across to the rail and lead. The challengers came soon after straightening, he looked like he was gone but kept fighting all the way down the straight to go down narrowly. It was a godo effort at start one and stays at the 1400m, the only other on speed horses is drawn in and should be cricket score odds, so the lead should be there for him again. The market has a stack of percentage in (10) Toscanini and (8) Recondite, with a few unknowns I am happy to be with Mr Cantankerous on an each-way basis making his own luck out in front.
