Cranbourne Racing Tips: Friday, May 3rd

Best Bet: Race 3 - (8) Jungle Jane

Lay Of The Day: Race 2 - (8) Night In Paradise

Race 1 – 2YO Maiden Plate Set Weights 1000m

With the early scratching, (12) Touch Of Paradise gets a start. She was single figure odds on debut in the sales restricted Inglis Nursery, she was well beaten, slow to recover and sent to the paddock. She has trialed very nicely in preparation for this, she showed good speed at her debut so should go forward. Any money for her would increase the confidence. (6) Exceed Rock gets the blinkers on at start three, he was all over the shop last time and the gear change looked a necessity. (8) Kubrick must be respected on debut from the Waller yard and (11) Terrifying can improve fresh, she didn’t show much at her first prep but was good in a recent trial.

(12) Touch Of Paradise

$3.40

Race 2 – Fillies and Mares Maiden Plate Set Weights 1200m

(9) Amenti was brave in defeat at Mornington last start. She is a lightly raced 4YO mare that had shown some ability without placing at her first four starts, last time she was three-wide no cover throughout and was only beaten a length. She draws wide again but hopefully jock Melissa Julius us positive again and she can control the tempo up on the speed. (8) Night In Paradise has had enough chances and happy to take her on, she is still a maiden after 14 starts and will be giving them a start. She is the lay of the day and that looks the way to play this race.

(9) Amenti

$2.60

Race 3 - Maiden Plate Set Weights 1400m

There only looks a few chances on paper but very keen on (8) Jungle Jane. She placed at her last two before going to the paddock, a mare out of Jungle Ruler no doubt she will thrive on the heavy track. She was seen at a jump-out recently at her home track, was just off the leaders before coming wide and running through the line ok without much pressure applied. We are banking on her ability in the wet to get her home fresh. (6) Taksu and (7) Consortium will be well supported as well and look the only other winning chances.

(8) Jungle Jane

$3.70

Race 4 - BM78 Handicap 1400m

(6) Persian Empire has won back-to-back races at Pakenham, he has shown versatility wit the first of those running on hard from the back then over-racing when leading all the way. Drawn the middle of the line, they will have all the options and although this is a little hard, he can make it three in a row. (8) Eckhart doesn’t have a great record fresh but flies in the wet and has trialed ok. Save on him.

Save: (8) Eckhart $9.00

(6) Persian Empire

$1.85

Race 5 - BM64 Handicap 1400m

Tough race. (4) Do You Reckon is coming to the races for the first time with the new yard, he showed ability at his first prep and was rewarded with a good maiden win before going to the paddock. He looks to handle the going well, not missing a place at all three runs on rain-affected going. The blinkers come off, get on him on an each-way basis. (5) Poleaxed was a good last start maiden winner, (6) La Volt was good resuming and didn’t have much luck when the runs came. He needs to improve on his second-up record though.

(4) Do You Reckon E/W

$9.50

Race 6 – BM64 Handicap 2080m

(1) Lucabelle loves it wet. He was a good winner at the Bool two back on a soft track (wet tracks at the Bool can play wetter than what they read in my opinion) after being held-up at a vital stage, then ran on strongly at Terang in the Cup last time in a race that has already produced a subsequent winner. (4) Dark Confidant wasn’t suited the way the race was run last time and was going well earlier in the prep, (8) Madam Stowell has had a month off to freshen up and will find this no harder, she has won in the wet previously.

(1) Lucabelle

$8.00

Race 7 – Fillies and Mares BM64 Handicap 1200m

(12) Sunrise Dancer has placed two for three in the wet but has never been past a soft rating, so there is not a lot of confidence in the race, without knowing how the track is playing at this stage of the night. She was heavily supported last time at Pakenham in a similar race, she was mid-field before switching wide and chasing hard, getting closer the further they went. She maps well again and looks well suited against the older horses. (8) Written Gem is also a 3YO filly, she was only fair at her first run out of maiden grade but may have just been a little flat second-up. (2) It’s A Myth goes well fresh and (1) Vivi Valentina will keep coming in the straight from back in the field.

(12) Sunrise Dancer

$4.20

Race 8 – BM64 Handicap 1600m

(12) Valenciano is a 3YO filly taking on the older horses, she is untried on the wet conditions but am prepared to say that her talent will get her through. Notably, she gets the blinkers of for the first time and is drawn out, I don’t see that as being an issue by this time of the night with the track likely to be deteriorating.  She missed a place for the first time in her career last start but kept working to the line well. There has already been another winner come out of that race since. (11) Vigere looks the main danger but just finds it hard to win. He will go forward from the wide gate and Valenciano, if all goes to plan, should have his back soon after and get the perfect cart into it.

(12) Valenciano

$3.20
