Caulfield will host a nine race program on Saturday, and track conditions remain Dry as they have been for most of 2025. The two year olds start us off a touch before midday running over 1200m, and we're eyeing off more winners after hitting 3/3 at Sale on Wednesday. The best bet of the program comes up in Race 3 with Big Swinger returning to Melbourne.
Below, Brendan Bunworth brings you his three best bets for day as well as his Quaddie selections. If you’re after more free tips for this weekend’s key meets, then head over to our Racing Tips here!

Caulfield Racing Tips: Saturday, May 31st 2025
Race 3: Catanach’s Jewellers Handicap - 1pm (AEST)
(1) Big Swinger returns to Melbourne after a short stint in NSW and he has since had a freshen up. He has drawn beautifully in 2 and from that barrier I expect him to settle 4th in the “one one”. He wasn’t disgraced in the Group 2 Arrowfield Stakes at Randwick last start when running 5th as he only got done by 1.3L. He goes better fresh and the drop in class will help here. Anything over even money is fair enough.
(4) Snack Bar is next to Big Swinger in barrier 1 and he has already won at Caulfield in his only start here. Ran third in a smart trial on May 22 at Warwick Farm.
(10) No Fooling is a last start Pakenham winner after starting a short priced favourite. Before that he won at Cranbourne too. Biggest test yet here.
(1) Big Swinger WIN
$2.10 (3 Units)
Race 8: Bel Esprit Stakes - 4pm (AEST)
(9) Watchmewin gets the nod here and is the South Australian hope. He will settle midfield and I think with fast tempo in this race he will get a good look down the home straight. He has won 3 times over 1100m and another Dry track is a bonus. Last start he was 7th at Morphettville in the Group 1 Goodwood but was only beate 2.9L. This is not a Group race and he is over the odds at 10-1. Barrier 14 is the slight concern and likely the reason behind the big odds.
(4) Aviatress has won 5 from 11 on Good tracks and his Flemington 4th when beaten less than a length was a good run last start.
(15) Fickle comes into this first up and is worth some thought. Has won 2 trials leading into this and he likes Dry ground.
(7) Niance is the clear fav but I think she may get tired late. In saying that she won twice here in good time last year.
(9) Watchmewin Each-Way
$10/$2.90 (1 Unit)
Race 9: Darren Gauci Handicap - 4:35pm (AEST)
(8) Moby Dick is over the odds here because you can forget his Hawkesbury run where he was usuited on the Heavy ground. Before that at Randwick he ran on quite well for 6th when beaten 1.6L and he is very fit now. He likes this distance and he will be running on strongly. Hasn’t placed in this class yet but the stable has always thought he could run.
(16) Dirty Grin gets weight relief here with Cartwright on but this is his toughest test yet. Starts fav but I think he will drift from $4.20. Has been fresehend for this and does race wll when produced that way.
(5) Prancing Spirit ticks a lot of boxes. Loves Dry ground having only missed a top 3 finish 3 times from 19, likes this distance and enjoys Caulfield. Won here last start from barrier 14 and gets a good barrier in 5 this time.
(8) Moby Dick Each-Way
$10/$3.10 (0.5 Units)
