Panthers vs Broncos Predictions & Tips: NRL Round 20 2026

Getting back to business

It was a timely break for the Panthers last week as they enjoyed a Bye following their comprehensive 36-14 victory over the Rabbitohs at home. Missing their Origin stars, the club’s depth was on full display and exceeded expectations in a clinical display of rugby league. The 6 try to 3 effort say them extend a tight 12-10 HT lead by control (51% possession) and dominance (86% completion rate). This saw them average 9.3m per carry, make 648 PCM’s, and create 6 line breaks. There was little resistance offered but credit must go to the Panthers for making it occur in this manner. Now, with their Origin stars returning, they are expected to continue to set the standard ahead of the Finals.

Time is running out

The Broncos losing streak extended to 8 matches with their Round 18 28-16 home defeat by the Sharks. With their Origin stars absent – on top of a few other key players who were injured – the Broncos were expected to struggle. Competitive early, they soon fell away, let down by their execution. With 47% possession, they completed at 75%, averaged just 7.7m per carry, and made just 3 line breaks. While their defence wasn’t as poor as it has been this season, the ease at which their opponent’s generated momentum is of concern moving forward. Something drastic needs to change at this club as one more loss will all but end their Finals aspirations.

Stats that matter

- These two teams met back in Round 1 where the Panthers recorded a 26-0 road victory. Despite losing last years Grand Final to them, the Panthers have won 10 of the past 12 matches against the Broncos. Both teams have a strong record at this ground too (Panthers 60% vs Broncos 58%).

- Only 2 of the past 5 matches between these two sides has been decided by fewer that 22 points, with the average margin of victory at 16.4 points. The average total points is low at 32.4 points.

- It is no surprise that the Panthers are superior on both sides of the ball this season. They score an average of 31ppg in attack and concede just 13ppg defensively. The Broncos can only manage 19ppg in attack and leak 27ppg defensively.

Form prevails over potential

On paper and at their best, the Broncos would be chance of winning. While their chances are smaller than what it would’ve been this time last year, the quality remains. Unfortunately for them, this game will not be played on that. Their only chance is that their stars are ‘fresh’ for this contest, and the impact of the recent Origin period negatively impacts the home side. Even still, a lot would need to go right over the 80 minute contest for the Broncos to win this match.

The Panthers also receive a timely boost of key players returning; the additional of McLean and Papali’i cannot be overlooked either. The line appears too large to be taking on with any confidence, leaving only a few options to entice punters into investing on this contest. If you need confidence, the average win margin of the Panthers is 23.9 points this season while the Broncos average losing margin is 16.3 points. Best to play it safe and increase your stake in the Panthers winning by more than 8 points.

The Broncos will be competitive for parts of this game. Unable to compete for 80 minutes in a game of this magnitude would raise further questions of this team, while increasing (unnecessary) pressure on a coach and playing squad that only won the Premiership last season.

Panthers vs Broncos Same Game Multi

Leg 1 = Total points under 45.5 – see above for justification.

Leg 2 = Jenkins to score – he has scored 2 doubles in his 2 games against the Broncos. Further to this, Jenkins has 7 tries from his past 5 games at this venue and is a man in form, scoring 7 tries in his past 4 NRL matches.

Leg 3 = Edwards to score – left out of Origin, Edwards still has a point to prove. He scored in their most recent game at this venue while also going about his business with a try in his most recent NRL match. He will want to make a statement here.

Momentum also has a major impact on sports, and Scooby likes to explore this, while underpinning his judgement against a solid basis of statistical analysis. When combined with the aforementioned points, it combines for a holistic approach towards betting on rugby league.
