North Melbourne vs Richmond Prediction & Betting Tips: AFL 2025 Round 23
Can the Roos Leap the Tigers?
A clash between the 17th-placed Kangaroos and the 16th-placed Tigers will take place in Tasmania. A win from North Melbourne would see them leapfrog Richmond into 16th on the ladder. Four-time Hawks premiership coach Alastair Clarkson returned to his former playing side in 2023 and it has been a vastly different experience since taking over as head coach for North Melbourne. The team has managed just 10 wins across three seasons, and it’s hard to find too many positives at this stage. GWS smashed them by 54 points last week, and Geelong thumped them by 101 points three matches ago. This is a much more winnable contest and one they enter as favourites.
Tigers Exceeding Season Expectations
At the start of the season, Richmond was not expected to win more than a couple of games. They have won five of 21 to date, which feels like a fair achievement given they only won two in 2024. Adem Yze seems to be giving Tigers supporters some confidence of a rebuild, and young players such as Sam Lalor (out for season) and Sam Banks will be learning plenty from the Tigers leaders such as Toby Nankervis and Tim Taranto. They gave the Saints a scare last week, eventually losing by four points. Four matches ago, the Tigers thumped West Coast by 49 points.
Recent History
There isn’t much between the sides in recent years with the sides winning three apiece from the last six contests. It was a thrilling four-point win for North Melbourne earlier in the season against Richmond. Both sides rucks have played well, and it will be a key matchup when Tristan Xerri and Nankervis compete in ruck contests around the ground. North’s midfielders Luke Davies-Uniacke and Harry Sheezel have been dominant against the Tigers in recent games, averaging around 28-29 disposals per game. Cam Zurhaar has kicked 11 goals in the last three matches against the Tigers which will be a focal point.
Who Wins? Here’s Our North Melbourne vs Richmond Tip
Hard to have any real confidence about either side at the moment as they have won just nine matches combined from 42 games. The Roos know the ground well, having played 40 times at the venue for 18 wins, 20 losses and two draws. This gives them a distinct home ground advantage over the Tigers who are 0-2 at the ground. Don’t expect a big margin, but North Melbourne look the most likely winner by a 1 to 39-point margin.

North Melbourne vs Richmond Same Game Multi
Cam Zurhaar 2+ Goals: Same as Prop above but a little safer.
Luke Davies-Uniacke 25+ Disposals: LDU has a career average of 29.4 disposals against Richmond, the most against any opponent.
Harry Sheezel 30+ Disposals: A prolific ball winner that has had 33 and 31 disposals in his last two matches. He should rack them up against a vulnerable Tigers outfit.
