Friday night hoops for NBL27 Round 5 sees the Tasmania JackJumpers play host to the Adelaide 36ers at MyState Bank Arena in Hobart. The JackJumpers are the hottest team in the league and will start as the favourites against a 36ers side that has looked disjointed so far this campaign.

Tasmania JackJumpers vs Adelaide 36ers Prediction and Betting Tips: NBL27 Round 5
JackJumpers Finding More Ways to Hurt Opponents
Tasmania return to MyState Bank Arena on top of the ladder at 4–1, with three consecutive wins and an attack that is giving opponents plenty to think about. Their 122–112 victory over Illawarra set a club scoring record, with David Johnson pouring in 32 points and Josh Bannan adding 25. This is becoming much more than a team that relies on grinding out defensive wins. Johnson, Taran Armstrong, Bannan, Will Magnay and Dakota Mathias are all averaging double figures, giving Scott Roth several options when someone has a quiet night. Conceding 39 points in the final quarter against the Hawks needs addressing, but Tasmania’s overall start has been impressive.
Adelaide’s Revival Faces a Tougher Test
Adelaide’s 84–78 win in Sydney was a much-needed response after three straight defeats, lifting Trevor Gleeson’s side to 3–4. John Jenkins III contributed 20 points and Matt Kenyon added 11 as five Sixers reached double figures, easing the burden on Bryce Cotton and Nick Rakocevic. Whether that support becomes consistent is the big question. Cotton and Rakocevic had scored 66 of Adelaide’s 91 points in the previous loss to Melbourne United, underlining how heavily the offence has leaned on them. Rakocevic is averaging 19.9 points and 11.3 rebounds, firmly establishing himself as the second scoring option. With Isaac Humphries, Flynn Cameron and Bul Kuol still sidelined, Adelaide need their available supporting players to deliver again.
JackJumpers vs 36ers Tip
Magnay against Rakocevic is the matchup that makes Tasmania appealing. Magnay is clearly the best defensive centre in the NBL and If he can contain Rakocevic without Tasmania constantly sending help, the JackJumpers can stay closer to Adelaide’s shooters and leave Cotton carrying a heavy scoring burden. Jenkins’ performance in Sydney is a reminder that the Sixers have other threats, but Tasmania have more reliable offensive options and have been the steadier team. With home support behind them, I’m backing the JackJumpers to win that crucial interior battle and do enough to cover.
