Sea Eagles vs Cowboys Preview & Betting Tips: NRL Round 19 2026

July 11th 2026, 4:29pm, By: Ben Bridge

Sea Eagles vs Cowboys Betting Tips

Sunday afternoon at 4 Pines Park gives us a terrific bounce back spot for Manly, as the Sea Eagles host the Cowboys in a game where I think the market is still underrating the Brookvale factor. Manly were poor last week in their 23-14 loss to Parramatta, but this is a vastly different setup. Back at 4 Pines, with Tom Trbojevic, Jason Saab, Tolu Koula, Reuben Garrick, Lehi Hopoate and Jamal Fogarty all named, I expect them to return to something much closer to their best.

The Cowboys arrive with their own intrigue. Tom Dearden has been named on the extended bench and is close to returning from syndesmosis surgery, which could shift Jaxon Purdue into the centres if he plays. That late mail matters, but as of now, North Queensland still look a little less settled than Manly.

My fair spread is Sea Eagles -9.5, so at -5.5, I’m happy to lay the points with the home side. This is not my highest confidence play of the season, but it is one of the cleaner side angles of the round.

Sea Eagles vs Cowboys Prediction & Tips: 2026 NRL Round 19

Sea Eagles Need to Respond at Home

Manly’s 23-14 loss to Parramatta last week was frustrating because it felt like a missed opportunity. The Eels were there to be beaten, but Manly’s new halves combination of Joey Walsh and Jamal Fogarty struggled to take full control, and the absence of Haumole Olakau’atu was noticeable. Parramatta played with more desperation, and the Sea Eagles never fully found the rhythm that had made them dangerous during their recent good run.

The good news is that this week’s team list looks strong. Tom Trbojevic is named at fullback, Saab and Hopoate give them speed and finishing on the wings, Koula and Garrick provide power in the centres, and Haumole Olakau’atu is named to return on the edge. The official Manly team list has Olakau’atu starting, with Jake Trbojevic captaining the side and Taniela Paseka, Kobe Hetherington and Ben Trbojevic also in the starting pack.

That should make a major difference. Manly’s best football at 4 Pines is built on yardage, edge pressure and momentum snowballing once the crowd gets involved. With Olakau’atu not getting on the field for Origin, he should play 80 minutes here, with the Sea Eagles regaining one of the most damaging right edge forwards in the competition.

The key is starting fast. If Manly can put last week behind them and win the early yardage battle, the Cowboys could find themselves chasing quickly.

Cowboys Still Waiting on Dearden

North Queensland’s season has been difficult to pin down. They have had strong patches, but their form away from Townsville has been inconsistent, and the continued uncertainty around Dearden’s return makes them difficult to fully trust. Scott Drinkwater remains the key attacking weapon, and the Cowboys still have enough strike through Jaxon Purdue, Zac Laybutt, Murray Taulagi and their forward pack to make this competitive.

The issue is control. Without Dearden at full fitness, North Queensland have often relied more heavily on Drinkwater and Jake Clifford to create. That can work, but at Brookvale, against a Manly side that can generate fast starts, it is a risky profile. If the Cowboys lose field position early, they may not have the spine fluency to chase consistently.

The official match centre lists Scott Drinkwater at fullback, Braidon Burns and Murray Taulagi on the wings, with Zac Laybutt and Tom Chester in the centres as named. That is a capable backline, but the potential Dearden late inclusion is the big variable. If he plays, North Queensland’s attacking structure improves. If he doesn’t, Manly’s advantage in control becomes clearer.

The Cowboys’ forward pack can keep them in this if they dominate early contact. But against a Sea Eagles side returning home after a poor loss, they’ll need more than effort. They’ll need execution.

Sea Eagles vs Cowboys Recent History

These sides met earlier this season in Round 7, when Manly thumped North Queensland 38-6 in Townsville. That result is central to this week’s handicap because it showed how quickly the Sea Eagles can overwhelm the Cowboys when they get on top. The most recent 2025 meeting was also at 4 Pines Park, where Manly beat the Cowboys 42-12 in Round 1.

Recent results:
• 2026 Round 7: Sea Eagles def Cowboys 38-6
• 2025 Round 11: Sea Eagles def Cowboys 24-6
• 2025 Round 1: Sea Eagles def Cowboys 42-12
• 2024 Round 18: Sea Eagles def Cowboys 21-20
• 2023 Round 20: Cowboys def Sea Eagles 19-8

Manly to Bounce Back Strongly

This is a classic home bounce back spot. Manly were poor last week, but I’m not ready to downgrade them too heavily off one bad result. Back at 4 Pines, with Olakau’atu named and Turbo at fullback, this looks like the right time to buy back in.

My fair line is Sea Eagles -9.5, so -5.5 is a great play, and if you can only find -6.5 it is still playable. The biggest edge is the venue. Manly’s yardage game and edge attack are far more dangerous at Brookvale, and the Cowboys have already been blown away by this team once this season.

The Cowboys can make this interesting if Dearden is a late inclusion and Drinkwater gets clean attacking ball. But if Manly win the early contact, the game can get away. Saab, Hopoate, Koula and Garrick give the Sea Eagles a major athletic edge, and Fogarty’s kicking game should help them apply pressure.

The return of Olakau’atu also gives Manly a direct way to stress North Queensland’s edge defence. Even if the Cowboys hold early, repeated carries and shape down that side should create chances.

The risk is that last week’s loss was a sign of deeper issues, especially with the halves still settling. But I think this is more likely a correction spot. Manly back at home, against a Cowboys side they have dominated recently, is the side I want.

Sea Eagles vs Cowboys Player Prop Bet

Manly’s left edge has conceded over half the teams’ tries all season, and I’ll back Heilum Luki to get over now he’s on the right. Drinkwater is great going right, and I can see Luki running good lines at Ben Trbojevic close to the line and barging over for one. Again, also like Nanai at a decent price.

H Luki (1+ try)

Leg 1: Sea Eagles (-5.5) – See best bet.

Leg 2 H Luki (1+ try) – See above best prop bet.

Leg 3: L Hopoate (1+ try) – Four tries in his last four games and attacking the weaker right edge of the Cowboys’ defence, I like Hoppa to cross on Sunday afternoon.
