Dragons vs Sea Eagles Predictions & Tips: NRL Round 6 2026
Issues everywhere you look
The future of coach Flanagan at the Dragons hangs in the balance following the Dragons 32-0 home defeat by the Cowboys. Outplayed in every area, this club is at a crucial crossroad as they search for their first victory of the season. With just 47% possession, they completed at 86% but failed to build pressure on their opponents. They created just 2 line breaks while conceding 10 and missing 35 tackles. To put it simply, their effort was poor. While questions are asked of the coach, the playing group could do worse than take accountability for their performance and assess what improvements must be made.
A reversal of form
The Sea Eagles headed into last week’s road match against the Dolphins with interim coach Foran at the helm. It sparked a drastic reversal of form as they captured their first victory of the season with a commanding 52-18 victory. It was one way traffic from the opening stages, with their opponents only scoring 3 tries in the last 10 minutes to add some respect to the score. It was no surprise of the outcome either as they had 62% possession, completed at 89%, made 9.5m per carry, and had 676 PCM’s. This saw them create 8 line breaks, as they continually pressured their opponents. Their defence was also improved, missing just 24 tackles. Perhaps the change of coach was warranted after all.
Stats that matter
- The Dragons issues in attack are well publicised. They average just 13ppg while conceding 29ppg. Despite conceding the same amount this season, the Sea Eagles have an edge by averaging 28ppg in attack.
- Tight, low scoring matches are expected between these two sides. The average margin of victory is 9.6 points in the past 5 matches. The average total points is 44 in the same games.
- The Sea Eagles struggle at this ground with just a 17% winning rate (2 wins from 12 matches). The Dragons have won 60% of matches played here.
Drastic changes needed if the Dragons are to win
Despite comments made in his press conference, coach Flanagan has avoided mass changes to his team. Rather, the adjustments have been impacted by injury and players returning. The changes made hardly suggest that they are going to be capable of winning this contest. The Sea Eagles were dominant last week, and they are improved with Saab returning to their team. The fact that such a dynamic change was achieved last week suggests they can build on that performance; the Dolphins were hardly poor defensively either, the Sea Eagles attack appeared more direct, and their execution was calculated. There is no reason why they cannot build on that. Flanagan coached teams are built on their defence but multiple reasons, this appears absent in the past few matches. The Dragons are capable of being competitive, even a chance of winning at their best, but the Sea Eagles are better placed to replicate their success from last week.

Dragons vs Sea Eagles Same Game Multi
Leg 1 = Either team by 12.5 points or less – see above for justification.
Leg 2 = Koula to score – he has 4 tries from his past 5 matches against the Dragons, with the same total accumulated in as many games this season. Koula is proving to be a dangerous attacking threat, and the Sea Eagles are getting him the ball as much as possible.
Leg 3 = Olakau’atu to score – he has 3 tries from his past 4 matches this season and is always an attacking threat when he is running hard at an edge. Despite not crossing the last time they played, Olakau’atu has scored 3 tries previously against the Dragons.
