Cowboys vs Storm Predictions & Tips: NRL Round 4 2026
Replicating last week
The Cowboys captured their first – and much needed – victory over the Titans at home. Expected to be a dour game, the Cowboys prevailed in unconvincing fashion, 30-16. There opponents were not void of opportunities either. Rather, they outlasted them in the second half. They were better than the opening few weeks, completing at 88% with 60% possession, averaging 9.1m per carry, and making 655 PCM’s but their shortcomings are still present. They conceded more line breaks (5 vs 6), allowed 9.3m per carry, and missed more tackles (31 vs 29). Hardly a convincing performance, greater consistency is needed for them to be successful moving forward.
Making amends for last week
The Storm were upset at home 18-14 by the Broncos last week, leaving a bitter taste in their mouths as it was a rematch of the 2025 Grand Final. The result is made worse by the fact that they conceded a 14-nil HT lead and appeared capable of running away with the result. That wasn’t to be though as an inconsistent Broncos team surged ahead in the second half. Hopefully, it is a minor stumble; they still managed 9.1m per carry, completed at 84%, 631 PCM’s, and 5 line breaks. Missing 37 tackles wasn’t ideal either and they are bound to be improved following that display.
Stats that matter
- The home team has won 4 out of the past 5 matches between these two sides. In that same time, the average margin of victory is 18.6 points, with the total points sitting at 54.6 points.
- These two sides are at opposite ends of the ladder when it comes to attack vs defence. The Cowboys score just 17ppg and concede 36ppg whereas the Storm score 37ppg and concede just 14ppg.
- This is a ground the Storm usually struggle at. They have won just 40% of matches here compared to the Cowboys 53% strike rate.
The Storm rarely lose two in a row
It isn’t a great sign for the Cowboys that the Storm are coming off a loss. Hardly convincing in their own victory, the visitors also have the advantage of greater preparation/recovery time ahead of this contest. If that were the same, the Storm would still likely have the advantage. They are stronger across the park and while the performance of the Cowboys last week will increase their confidence, they are still lacking consistency in their execution to deliver a surprise result in this match. The decision then comes down to how this match will play out. Conditions are expected to be tough in Townville, and this should keep the scores close for longer than expected. The Storm will pull away at some stage though; they have too much attacking power and a strong defensive structure that should ensure a comfortable victory by most than 2 converted tries.

Leg 1 = Over 50.5 – see above for justification of this.
Leg 2 = Meaney to score – he hasn’t set the world on fire just yet, but he enjoys playing the Cowboys. He has scored 4 tries from his past 3 matches against them and will again be a threat from anywhere on the field.
Leg 3 = Fa’alogo to score – the form player for the Storm, he has recorded 7 tries in his past 4 matches. Each time someone needs to stand up for the Storm, he is close to the ball hoping to positively influence the result.
