Cowboys vs Sea Eagles Predictions & Tips: NRL Round 7 2026
Winning but problems still linger
The spirited 35-31 victory over the Broncos left many Cowboys fans pleased with the outcome; however, there are problem which this team still must address moving forward. The Broncos were missing plenty of key personnel and still managed to score 5 tries. The Cowboys had 54% possession and completed at 85%, while averaging 10.7m per carry, making 699 PCM’s, and 8 line breaks. This created plenty of positive attacking chances which they took. To improve, they need to decrease the 33 missed tackles and allowing 10m per carry to their opponents. There is a sense that the result may have hidden some of the cracks.
A new direction with purpose
Rejuvenated with an interim coach, the Sea Eagles grabbed another victory last week with a 28-18 road victory over the Dragons. Despite the unconvincing nature of the victory, they will still pleasure in the performance. They are still not where they need to be though, and they must be better if they wish to continue to climb up the ladder. A 51% share of and a 79% completion rate isn’t good enough. Thankfully, they made 9m per carry and had 4 line breaks. Their star players are contributing but it’s now up for the others to lift (and maintain) the standard.
Stats that matter
- The Sea Eagles have won the past 3 over the Cowboys. In the past 5 matches, the average margin of victory has been 12.4 points. The total average points in that same time is 41.2 points.
- The home team has won just 1 of the past 6 matches between these two teams. The Cowboys have a 54% strike rate at home while the Sea Eagles have 100% success, winning all 4 of their games played here.
- The Sea Eagles are the superior attacking team this year compared to the Cowboys. They average 28ppg compared to 26ppg. Interestingly, the Cowboys are better defensively, allowing only 23ppg whereas the Sea Eagles concede 26ppg.
Confidence is the key
The winner of this side is going to be the team which displays greater confidence in themselves over 80 minutes. Heading into the contest, that appears to be the Cowboys. Despite limitations in their performance last week, there were more positives for them moving forward. The Sea Eagles are a confident team also; a change of coach has been a catalyst for improved performances from a talented team.
The teams change, or lack thereof, should not impact the contest too much; it will be interesting to see how the role of Luke at hooker evolves throughout this contest. A talented player from the Penrith system, his combination within this team was less that settled. It may halt their attack through the middle and place extra pressure on the other spine members.
The Sea Eagles are not the complete product either. Their shortcomings haven’t been exposed in recent weeks, and they have not paid for their errors. The line should be higher though for a game like this and as the Sea Eagles are still finding their groove, it is likely that they’ll need this match to recalibrate in testing conditions.

Cowboys vs Sea Eagles Same Game Multi
Leg 1 = Total points under 54.5 – set very high, you only need to see the recent history between these two sides for guidance.
Leg 2 = Burns to score – he has scored 4 tries in his past 3 NRL matches and has 3 as many matches against the Sea Eagles. Burns is growing in confidence on the edge and is dynamic in taking try scoring opportunities.
Leg 3 = Saab to score – unlike Burns, he has been out of form recently, failing to score in his past 5 matches. Playing the Cowboys should see that amended. Not only does he have 6 tries in his past 3 matches against them, but he also has the same total tries in his 3 games players at this venue.
