Bulldogs vs Storm Predictions & Tips: NRL Round 12 2026
Struggling in every area
They’re doing well to downplay the issues which are presently impacting the Bulldogs but make no mistake, they are a club which is struggling. Another poor performance in their 38-16 Magic Round loss to the Sharks further compounds their troubles. It was a diabolical first half which saw them behind 30-6 which was to blame. Despite a greater share of possession (51%), they completed at just 76% and ran for 8.8m per carry. That was a common theme for the Bulldogs; they were strong statistically but (again) lacked the ability to score points or halt their opponents. For what it’s worth, they lead PCM’s, had more line breaks (5 vs 4), and missed significantly fewer tackles (16 vs 35). It wouldn’t be surprising to hear that other coaching options were being considered to alter their team’s direction.
A second consecutive win is just what they needed
Breaking a 7-game losing streak in Round 10, the Storm captured back-to-back victories with a commanding 34-8 win over the Eels. Clinical in their execution and strong defensively, the Storm appeared to be back to their best with that performance. Interestingly, the statistics suggest that they still have plenty of improvement left and perhaps the shortcomings of their opponents assisted them in victory. Despite having a greater share of possession (52%), they completed at just 71%; thankfully, they made 9.9m per carry, had 667 PCM’s, and made 8 line breaks. Missing just 28 tackles, their attitude in defence was also improved.
Stats that matter
- The Storm have won 10 of the past 11 games against the Bulldogs. They also have a 62% strike rate at this ground compared to the Bulldogs 54%.
- Despite only 2 games being won by a margin greater than 14 points in their past 5 meetings, the average victory is 14.8 points. Interestingly, they have been low scoring encounters, with the average total points sitting at 38ppg.
- Despite their poor performance so far this season, the Storm are superior compared to the Bulldogs on both sides of the ball in 2026. They average both 25ppg in attack and defence. The Bulldogs still struggle to score points, averaging just 17ppg (2nd worst in the competition) and concede 27ppg defensively.
Bulldogs need to work hard to win this one
Strong favourites to win the match, the Bulldogs must not rely upon the strength of their opponents (or lack thereof) to win this contest. The Storm have shown in recent years that they are a tough team and players constantly ‘step up’ in the absence of others. The Bulldogs have been poor recently; their execution has been highlighted by poor defensive reads and a lack of direction in attack. The odds offered flatters them. While the Storm have only improved recently, they appear capable of nullifying what the Bulldogs offer over 80 minutes. There are more suitable games this weekend (and next Wednesday – stay tuned) to part way with your money in. With the confidence low in both teams, it is recommended to invest around a contest decided by fewer than 2 converted tries and having a better understanding of where these teams are moving forward.
